“Mother, what is that?” Kamui asked, looking into the little crib to see a small little creature that was currently sleeping.
“This is your baby sister, Kagura.” The mother answered while she was trying to knit some clothes for the new addition to their family.
So defenseless.
So small and weak looking.
How utterly stupid.
THIS thing was his sister? What even is a sister anyways?
Also, what is a baby?
This thing wants to call itself his sister? What a laugh!
How ridiculous!
“Mother, this baby is going to die. Sleeping without having her guard up. Even I can sleep with my guard.” Kamui huffed, his chest puffing out with his pride.
He had finally acquired the ability to sleep with his guard up and be ready to repel any attack coming for him if danger is near.
Normally kids would need another year or two to obtain this ability, but he WAS the son of Umibozu after all. It was obvious that he could do something like this!
His mother chuckled at the things her son was saying. He really took after Umibozu. When Kamui was born, he didn’t know what to do with the baby.
Kamui was only a week old when he attempted to take the infant out to start training him. He was too excited about having a son to raise up to become his sparring partner.
He wanted to teach him everything he knew!
“Well, she’s still much too young to do what you can do Kamui. That’s why, you have to watch over your sister. Just like how we are watching over you.”[1]
Kamui thought about it and sat next to the crib boredly.
He watched the infant sleep in her crib.
THIS. IS BORING!
He didn’t want a sister anymore. This was really annoying! His parents paid less attention to him now!- Not that he got that much attention from his father in the first place.
It was rare when he would actually see his father because he was going around fighting aliens or other Yato clansmen.
He was always doing his own thing. He was told that Umibozu did this to ensure that his family would have a place to call home and food to eat. Still, it was tough to not get to see his father as often as other kids get to see their fathers.
He kept staring at the baby to see that it was drooling. Is that… all they did?
Drool and sleep?
‘What am I supposed to do with this? Do I punt it? Why does it drool so much?’ Were the thoughts that ran through Kamui’s head.
The little eyes opened up to reveal her blue eyes and tears were falling. Soon, the baby was crying loudly and Kamui jumped away from the crib and took up a defensive-stance.
THE BABY WAS ATTACKING! How terrifying, to think that they could learn such powerful attacks at such a young age.
She could not be underestimated.
“Are you hungry Kagura? Just wait a moment. Mommy will feed you.” The mother put down her knitting supplies and walked over to the crib with a big bottle in her hand.
Kamui stood off to the side as he watched his mother feed the baby.
It took quite a while to feed the baby so Kamui ended up relaxing his shoulders and moved in closer to his mother to get a closer look at the baby.
It was really squishy looking.
Maybe… she was cute?
Kagura finished her bottle and then the mother burped her to make sure she could sleep without any issues.
Kamui and Kagura then looked at each other for a brief moment.
Not knowing what to do, Kamui just raised his hand and waved it.
As if knowing he was trying to be friendly with her, Kagura smiled at him and gurgled.
“MOTHER! THAT THING IS A MONSTER! IT JUST TRIED TO EAT ME! CAN I PUNT IT!? I NEED TO TEACH HER A LESSON!” Kamui raged.
The woman laughed quietly to herself as she laid the baby back down into the crib after making sure to burp the baby.
“Don’t be like that Kamui, you have to be patient with your sister. She’s still just a baby. When she gets older, you’ll have a playmate to play with you.” The woman walked back over to her seat and started knitting clothes again.
The baby wasn’t asleep just yet, waving her hands up in the air, gurgling some more.
Not knowing how to handle a creature that he wasn’t allowed to hurt, he could only resort to hissing at the gurgling baby.
The door opened and Umibozu walked into the house to see his two favorite females in the world, but he couldn’t find his favorite little man?
“Where… is Kamui?” He asked.
The woman’s hands didn’t stop knitting, but she did motion her head towards the ceiling.
Eyes moving up to the ceiling, he could see his son clinging to the ceiling and hissing at the crib.
“He is just like you, he doesn’t know how to handle babies.”
Umibozu huffed and walked over to the crib and picked up his daughter.
“I know how to deal with children now. I have experience after Kamui.” He said.
It wasn’t long after that Kagura started crying and he quickly sat her down in his wife’s lap. “What happened?” He asked.
The woman sighed and shook her head. “Not all babies are the same. Kamui was okay with you grabbing him by the legs but Kagura doesn’t like that. You have to treat her gentler than that.” She soothed the crying infant and then set her back into her crib.
Seeing as she wasn’t going to be getting any work done, she set down her knitting tools once more and walked into the kitchen.
“Kamui come down from the ceiling and help me make dinner.”
With that, Kamui dropped down from the ceiling and rushed into the kitchen.
The greatest thing in the world was food! Food is justice!
“FOOOOOD!”

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS!
[1] SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT. As soon as I typed this out I just wanted to burst out into tears. In his freaking childhood his mum died and Umibozu just like leaves them alone a lot. I CRY A LOT. It’s like Kamui is a dick, yes, but can we really blame him? He didn’t exactly get raised by model parent(s).
Like. No. What if, what if. Lol ignore me and my dumb ideas. //shuffles away
