The Tamagorou Tentative Timeline

I know, I know, “Weren’t you supposed to be making The Totsuka Tatara Timeline?” (again). Shhhh it’s WIPing in my draft and I’ll finish it... some time... .... eventually.......  maybe...... .... ...  ..... (unlikely)

Here’s a Tamagorou Timeline!!!! Inspired by the random thought of Mystery Slate Kid being Tamagorou!!! But!!!! Mystery Slate Kid probably would’ve had black hair and yellow eyes if that were the case :L so really this is just for the hell of it.

Last time, I said “it should be interesting to compare this and the final version.” Well, this is the final version! I should have posted this last week since I did finish it last week, but I simply didn’t feel like writing the post that goes with it. Welp.

For those of you who missed it, Tamagorou is miximaxed with the ever so loved Mecha Endou! There are only two official images of Tamagorou in the world and both come from Inazuma Eleven Strikers, so this was easy to do. Well, relatively.

Also, this week is EnYaga Day (again) and I’m working on something special. I should hopefully be able to finish in time, so please look forward to it~

Anyway, more about MechaTama under the cut! (I’m too tired to re-read this, so excuse the more than likely typos and... stuff.)

This time, we shall properly discuss MechaTama’s design. As I said last time, MechaTama was fun to work on because of the freedom it gives me. Mecha Endou is a robot, so is he considered a character or a Power Item? What applies to him? How do you handle such a thing? Well, I didn’t know how to answer that question, so I didn’t answer it. I just did what felt right to me and/or ticked my picke. I love saying that; it sounds so stupid. Okay, moving on--

In the end, Mecha Endou ended up being a healthy mix (pardon the pun) between a character and a Power Item. Let’s discuss the character part first, since it’s easier to digest. Like any other player x character miximax, Tamagorou got Mecha Endou’s skin colour, hair colour and accesories.

As you can see, much like Mecha Endou’s, MechaTama’s face has become gra-- metal. All of his flesh is now metal, in fact. This leads to a few fun things, but we’ll talk about them later.

His hair has also acquired the distinctive hue of Mecha Endou’s hair: a greenish brown. That works very well with Tamano, actually, since his usual hair is green to begin with. It also feels like a middle point between Tamano and Endou, which, if you can recall, was exactly the point of this miximax. Oh, fun fact: all of Tamano’s hair locks are still there, but they poke out from the top of the headband now instead of being close to the eyes. I liked that little detail, so I kept it.

Of course, all of Mecha Endou’s accessories are now Tamano’s: the headband, the switch and, even if you can’t see it here, the plug that very suspiciously comes out of his butt. Sure, there’s not much to Endou or Mecha Endou in this regard, but we love him all the same.

And not only that, but the shape of Mecha Endou’s hair can also be seen here: the huge lock coming out of his fringe, the little horn-like locks at both sides of his head (aka “the cat ears”) and the spiky sideburns.

...But that’s all. Sure, it stands out a lot as it is, but this is all the character part covers. The real fun starts when we start considering Mecha Endou a Power Item.

First of all, let’s recall what some Power Items do. Remember the Genes, those that turned SARU into a gorilla, Vanfeny into a vampire and Garsha/Garshya/idec anymore into a werewolf? ...Well, who says that only applies to Genes?

After miximaxing with Mecha Endou, Tamano has pretty much turned into an android himself, which is so much fun! This has a HEAVY impact on his performance in the field, but we’ll talk about that in another post. Let’s focus on the design by now. :P

What pisses me off about Mecha Endou is that its hair is so plain. The back and the top of its head are totally uneventful, so there was nothing I could do to Tamano’s hair based on that. The only option was to cut the hair and make it as plain as Mecha Endou’s, but NOPE. First rule of miximaxing: the hair always grows. There’s always more hair after than before. So what I did was use the Power Item part to spice Tamano’s hair up a little bit.

I know it might be hard to notice at first sight, so I’ll pinpoint it for you: see, well, all the hair below the headband? All of it has been spiked up following a common pattern: Mecha Endou’s sideburns. As you can see here (thank @ishidoshuuji for the lineart!), its sideburns are very angular, opposed to Endou’s flat ones. So, MechaTama’s hair follows a similar pattern where the angles are very abrupt and everything looks like you’ll get a cut if you touch it. XD Curves get mostly replaced by more straight lines and edges, making it look sharp and almost square-like.

Although this is a minor change, those three spikes on the top of MechaTama’s head have changed too. They are now bigger and spikier than they were before, but that part gave me so many problems because I didn’t know how to work with it. In the end, I stopped caring and pulled off a Taiyou: grab what you have and make it kinda puffier. It’s not a bad resort, I guess.

...And last, but by no means least, we have MechaTama’s eyes. I guess that’s the part you all were wondering about the most (the two of you, yes). Well, ain’t it fun! Mecha Endou’s eyes are some sort of insect-like purple/gray lenses, but that’s just boring (and looked kinda meh on Tamano). And since I don’t fully consider Mecha Endou a character, I reserve the right to do whatever the hell I want.

So, what did MechaTama get? Well, screens! Indeed--those are little, circular, mostly pixellated screens that change depending on MechaTama’s mood or situation. He has no eyebrows (thank Mecha Endou for that one, little dear), so this serves as a way to express emotions. They are mostly decorative, though, since he can’t really see with them, but that saves me the trouble of having to look for symbols that look like pupils. ...I’m lazy.

I only have three symbols so far because my imagination has a limit, but I think they are pretty self explanatory: a cross for when he is fucking dead defeated (aka after a ball hits him in the head after breaking his hissatsu) and a flame for the times when he’s angry or just all fired up and ready to kick ass. ...The normal symbol might need a little explanation, though.

Well, as you can see, his normal/happy symbol is a paw. A dog or cat-- well, an animal paw. Sure, green is a happy colour (I guess), but you wouldn’t really relate paws to happiness (again, I guess). Tamano’s usually quite happy, so I used his normal symbol for happy situations too. But, why the heck a paw?

Those of you who have played the games and bothered to get Tamano must have guessed it already, but, for those of you who haven’t, his in-game description reads as it follows:

"Raimon's club mascot. He may be small, but he has mysterious power."

Raimon’s club mascot. Mascot. Mascots are animals (or little brothers) and pet animals are usually portrayed with... indeed, paws! So, I thought it was fitting, fun and cute. So I added it because I wanted to.

All in all, it might seem like MechaTama’s design hasn’t changed all that much in this time, but it actually has! I simply put some actual sense into what used to be not much more than a mess of many ideas that didn’t actually make sense or work. Like those curved lines on his cheeks. What sense does that make, even? What was I thinking about? Or those bits of hair right over the sideburns. Or the ponytail. Or the hair in general looking like a blob of gum.

Gee, I suck.

BANG! MANGA GOODNESS!

For those of you who didn’t know (probably about 98% of my followers), yes, Tamagorou is part of this project, indeed! Even though he didn’t appear in the anime and he’s just a scout character in the games (a special one, but still), he is an actual, full-fledged player for Raimon in the manga! I love the manga and I loooove Tamano, so of course he had to be here.

If it wasn’t obvious enough, Tamano is miximaxed with none other than our most beloved Mecha Endou! Being miximaxed with a android turns him into a very interesting player with many cool perks, but we’ll talk about those in due time.

Please note that this is just a doodle and not the final design. I’m currently honing it, but I was busy working on terrible things for @addictedpenguin and that kind of consumed my time this week. But, in the meantime, you can have a little sneak peek/doodle to make up for it. It should also be interesting to compare this and the final version. I guess. Maybe.

Anyway, more about MechaTama (I like how it sounds, okay) under the cut!

To begin with, and since many people probably have never heard of this cutiepie, I’ll talk about the reasons behind this miximax.

Without spoiling too much, what you should know about Tamano Gorou (also known as Tamagorou, so you’ll see me using both names) is that:

He’s cute and teeny tiny a player for Raimon in the manga. He plays as a midfielder and replaces Shishido. He also appears in the games as a scout character.

In the games, he is technically a defender, but stands out because he learns many goalkeeper hissatsus like God Hand or Majin The Hand.

He is a hardcore Endou fanboy. He is always following him around, understands him like no one else can and cheers for him no matter what.

He plays a very important role in the manga, being as much of a main character as Endou or Gouenji can be.

There’s, of course, a lot more to this little fella, but one thing’s clear: he’s definitely no pushover and he totally deserves tobe here. If you want to know more about him, read the manga (please!) or check his Wikia page. That’s a valid thing to do too, I guess.

Anyway, on with the actual content! As I said, Tamagorou is miximaxed with Mecha Endou, the fan-created character that became relevant to the plot in Chrono Stone... and the source of a lot of pain. Why did I choose him/it, though? Well, there are a lot of reasons, and you can probably guess many of them. Especially if you know me.

The main reason, and the one that led to the idea, is something I mentioned above: Tamagorou is a huge Endou fanboy. He follows him around and even learns his hissatsus. That’s what I call dedication! Tachimukai almost feels like a Tamagorou clone (even if they are both precious in their own ways).

Much like Endou would miximax with Daisuke if given the chance, Tamagorou would definitely want to miximax with Endou too. This, however, is not quite possible if we look at game canon, which I like to follow.

For those of you who haven’t played Chrono Stone, if a character is lending his/her/its aura to someone, he/she/it can’t be on the field too. If Tamagorou wanted to miximax with Endou, Endou would have to be out of the team, and considering they are both Raimon players, that’s definitely not ideal.

Of course, my track of thought is that, considering Endou is completely out of the question, Tamagorou would freak out if he heard there’s an Endou android that packs all of Endou’s abilities and he can actually miximax with it. Sure, it’s not Endou himself, but it’s as close as it gets! And, come on, miximaxing with a robot? I don’t know about you guys, but you could definitely count me in.

A second and very important reason to pull this off is sheer and heart-breaking pain. It always gets me when Mecha Endou is destroyed in the game and the anime. Sure, it’s rebuilt in the game so you can scout it, but its anime counterpart wasn’t that lucky. We didn’t get nearly as much Mecha Endou as we should have, so it’s a perfect chance to bring all of its robotic goodness back to the stage. I know of a certain person who will definitely not complain about this.

Something I like about this miximax is that it cover Tamano’s desire to fuse with Endou without actually turning him into an Endou clone. As you guys know, I like making everyone special in this project. It’s what brings characters to life and makes them pop out. And, luckily for us, Mecha Endou is nothing like Endou. Their hissatsu are different. Their Keshins are different. Heck, they aren’t even part of the same species! Tamano can be unique thanks to him, and that’s pretty great. That’s ideal, in fact.

Also, I can’t deny that creating a miximax with a robot is plain fun. Is it a character? Is it a Power Item? No one knows, so I can go completely bonkers if I want to! Sue me, Hino! In fact, his final design has even more made up stuff than this version, but I’ll talk about that when I actually post it.

A final but nonetheless relevant reason to choose Mecha Endou is that I want to have a certain number of Inazuma miximaxes in this project. That is, miximaxes where both the vessel and the aura are Inazuma characters. I already addresses this issue before right here, but, long story short, I want a miximax that comes from every game in the series. Mecha Endou takes care of the miximax coming from IEGo Chrono Stone: Neppu, so there’s that. 5 done; 10 more to go! ...Until Ares comes out, at least. fml.

All in all, though, I just found this idea very appealing and very cool and wanted to try my hand at it. It’s really hard to work with Mecha Endou (I hate characters with short hair, ugh!), but I can tell you I’m having tons of fun, so I hope you will enjoy this too!
