Do you have any recs for platonic shinzuku
DO I?!?!?!? okay so i’ve read a lot of mha fics over the years, and although some of these fics don’t have a specific focus or emphasis on their friendship, it’s definitely there and what i’d consider to be good. so i’ll try and make this list as exclusive for shinzuku as i can but i might flop a little.
edit: oops i thought i had way more than i actually do so this rec list will be fairly short i’m sorry

A wonderfully unique premise which gives Izuku the ability to have different powers depending on the music he sings. Turns the Sports Festival into a Music Festival and has lots of mentor Present Mic, not to mention some really good shinzuku.

Hitoshi isn’t sure how he feels about moving. But he hopes that maybe, just maybe, people won’t talk about how he has a “villain’s” quirk. At the very least, it seems like he’s making friends with the odd kid who lives right next door to him now.

Admittedly, it’s been a little while since I’ve read this one (and i still need to catch up oops) but it’s still vividly stuck in my memory as having a really strong and brilliantly written friendship between the two. Also Graveler’s quirk continues to haunt my thoughts whenever I think about this fic.

Technically this fic can be read as romantic shinzuku, but as the aromantic I am everytime that’s suggested I immediately ignore it. This also has the added bonus of Hatsume Mei if you’re a fan of her, it’s been a while since I’ve read it but this is by far my favourite vigilante fic out there.

"You don't have to apologize, dude. I don't know your name, but I doubt it's actually Deku." "Um. Midoriya." Izuku peered sideways at Purple as they rounded the corner. "Izuku Midoriya. Deku is just, um, just what my... friends call me." He winced. "Sounds real friendly."

A fair while since I’ve read this one, since I keep falling behind (rip) but it’s basically a “Shinsou attends Orudera” fic, where he instantly befriends Izuku. It focuses a lot on the bullying that Izuku endured and as far as I recall it doesn’t sugarcoat Bakugou’s actions either. Oh yeah, and surprise Kouda friendship, because he’s a good egg.
now this last one i very much hesitate to recommend because it’s a crossover with the source material being somewhat dodgy at times, and parts of this fic can be somewhat...uncomfortable but it’s a fic i enjoy reading after ignoring those?? i read it critically and aware that it’s not perfect nor flawless. so uh, disclaimer for that.

Midoriya Izuku was just trying to escape Bakugou's bullying and achieve his dream of attending the prestigious UA. He assumed the cutthroat Kunugigaoka Junior High would prepare him for that. Too bad he was immediately booted to class 3-E for being quirkless.
Shinsou Hitoshi was planning for his time at Kunugigaoka Junior High to be spent under the radar. He kept his grades average and interactions with others minimal. But when an incident occurs that requires him to use his quirk at school unauthorized (even though he did it to help another student), he finds himself immediately being moved to class 3-E.
When the moon exploded due to the dangerous villain known by the papers as the Tentacle, the last thing anyone expected was for him to want to teach 3-E. Now Izuku, Hitoshi and their classmates are expected to become assassins, kill the number one villain, and save the earth from the same fate.

It’s a crossover fic with the series Assassination Classroom. It has it’s problematic elements in the source material that sometimes show in the fic, but the fic itself doesn’t exactly need knowledge of AssClass, it’s written with the point of view alternating between Shinsou and Izuku through their last year of middle school covering the events of the Assassination Classroom. It has a sequel that covers the butterfly effects of this fic, as well as covering the mha plot.
in conclusion: there needs to be more platonic shinzuku fics in the world.
