ACES. Weeeeelllllll now, you just gave me a reason to rant about my kiddos ! ! Thank you anon. ♥ So, let’s see, where do I begin…
Beast was one of the first members of the circus Joker ever met whilst he was on the streets, firstly ( the other was Dagger, who followed Beast around ). With him and her being around the same age. they grew close- and even became something of an adopted family to little Dagger, even if they never admitted it. Truthfully, when they were on the streets, Joker and Beast felt nothing but platonic, familial feelings for each other.
Then, their family began to grow.
As we all know, Beast has unrequited feelings for Joker, so I’m not going to rant on behalf of her. This is about Joker’s feelings towards her, so let’s get to that then.
Joker… knows about Beast’s feelings for him. Or at least, he has a slight suspicion, anyway, that they might be more than familial feelings, but he only tests the waters when they’re together- small touches on her shoulders or hands, pecks on the cheek as thanks ( which he does to all his family members if they allow him; he just really loves his family ok ), and of course, there’s the scene with the flowers ( skip to 1:30 for it, and it’s subbed ! ). More or less, Joker knows there’s something there, but he’s still unsure about it. He might even have feelings back for her too but he’s?? Got a big internal emotional whirlwind all the damn time because of his Facade needing to be up all the time, and also because he has this terrible feeling that nobody would love him romantically. He wants it, and he would love for Beast to be that person, but he feels like she’d get bored with him, or leave him, or something like that. He doesn’t have a lot of self-confidence when it comes to her.
But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t want her by his side any less.
