I wanted that special someone. I envied them their relationship. Someone to stand up for you, support you, be waiting at home with loving arms after a bad day. The person who would beam like a proud peacock when you excelled at something... A partner who would always call you on your bullshit.

Review: So this one has an enemies to lovers vibe to it. But it's more like man and his pest to lovers.
This book is Jamie Marian's story. He is a wildlife whisperer. Aka he is a wild life vet who has worked all over the world, generally at national parks, helping them to protect their animals, basically? I don't really know how else to phrase it.
But Jamie is pretty jaded. He was left at the alter by his ex. And I mean AT the alter. Turns out his ex had a whole ass wife. So Jame is just over love. And because he's kind of bad at them, hooking up is pretty much out of the question, too.
Teddy is a wildlife photographer. And he has been on a MISSION to photograph Jamie with animals after a photo of him with a bear cub went viral. But Jamie is not down with that. Those kinds of photos put people at risk. But Teddy won't let up. He keeps calling and texting and emailing. And eventually, he just shows up in Denali, where Jamie has been living, with no real plan other than to photograph Jamie.
This book is full of miscommunication and men lying to themselves about what they want. They have an almost on again off again sort of deal for a little bit. And side characters definitely interfere at a couple of points. It was a little frustrating at points, but overall the book was quite enjoyable.
This book DOES stretch out longer, timeline-wise, than most of Lucy's books I've read so far because they have a bit of a long distance sorta thing going on. There is a lot of Teddy flying for a million hours just to see Jamie.
Up next: Jude and his bodyguard!
Sometimes photographs tell you the truth. You look at the moment you were lucky enough to capture and see your very heart reflected back in the image. In that way, photography offers permanence. Moments, like relationships, can be fleeting, but a photograph captures the moment and sets it in stone.

You’re so fucking scared of something ending you’re too afraid to even let it start.
