i’ve always had the idea to write a tamn fanfanfic about ksq (centering on quackity after he seperates from the other two) and hdwgh has really inspired me to actually start writing it :D and i was wondering if you two had any unsaid ideas about ksq and their story that’s not written in tamn!
THIS IS SO EXCITING!! Tay's influence is a gift to us all. It's awesome when we all keep inspiring each other back and forth omg We'd absolutely LOVE to read this!
KSQ will always hold a special place in our hearts, as the characters that originally brought us into the MCYT space, and it would be SO cool to see more about them and their experiences within the TAMN universe. We've mentioned before but, originally, this AU was about Pops and his boys and THEN it was about KSQ and IN THE END we wound up writing about Scarian, so we definitely have a lot of background ideas with what KSQ plot looks like for sure!
In no particular order, here are some of our thoughts:
Part of the reason Quackity drifts from the trio is because, unlike Scar, Karl and Sapnap really struggle with the reality of his killing and eating people (so much so that Quackity attempts to only eat the already-deceased for their sake, despite how those meals satisfy none of his hunger). They love him, but it's difficult for them to stomach (no pun intended) hunting people down in cold blood.
(Now, that's not to say they couldn't come around on it. But in true "we're in our early 20s" fashion, they're unable to articulate it to one another to cross that bridge before Quackity leaves.)
Another point of abrasion is that, after parting from Scarian in the desert, the trio refuse to separate from one another, which only makes Quackity's need to eat (and Sapnap and Karl's revulsion) worse.
Quackity has waking-up-screaming level nightmares about his time with Scar and Grian, and especially the grocery store--this is compounded by the fact that starving himself puts him in an awful, almost hallucinatory state, which makes Quackity more paranoid and more short-tempered than he'd normally be.
No longer on his medication (due to being in the apocalypse), Karl's mental fog, distraction, and forgetfulness become a huge issue for the trio. He becomes flaky, unreliable, and a liability, which stresses Sapnap, and makes things especially hard for Quackity, who feels that Karl is deliberately starting to lose interest in him due to his zombie condition.
Because of Karl's unmedicated state, Sapnap--seeing Karl as being the more immediate "problem that needs solving"--focuses more of his attention there, and Quackity also starts to feel cut off from Sapnap, attributing that to his condition as well.
The trio have a shared goal to find their way to a quickie-wedding chapel in whatever remains of Las Vegas to act out their wedding, once the immediate horror of the outbreak dies down.
Quackity is trans! It impacts his character so little it's barely worth mentioning, but it's a detail we keep in mind. (This is canon as of TAMN, but in the first fic we wrote with them, pre-TAMN, it hadn't been established yet, so some scenes might read a little different.)
Sapnap and Karl were each others' first everythings. Quackity had a few dead end, massively dysfunctional relationships before them.
Quackity likes to be the middle spoon, but he also has to be cajoled into any physical closeness after his bite, due to his concerns that he's unsafe to be around.
This part (and anything else of course) is up to re-interpreting however you see fit for your own fic, but we did always intend that eventually the trio would reunite, reconcile, and have a version of a happy ending.
