Step 3: Wash & Wear

Shower time! Washed off the guide color with Organix soap. Let me re-iterate: They are ALL nice colors. You could wear any one of these and have a gorgeous, natural-looking tan. That's also why it was so hard to choose only one to buy! But if I'm looking to spend some cash, I care about the subtle differences...

Impression: Fake Bake (#3) is certainly the most green/olive base, a color I love. St. Tropez (#1) and Sun Labs (#2) seem the most "brown" - beautiful. Tanceuticals (#5) is now fully developed and looks slightly "redder" than Xen Tan (#4), which looks more "golden." Personally, I cringe when people describe tans as "golden," because it sounds like code for "yellow." I prefer red over yellow. That said, Xen Tan is still a pretty natural tan, producing a gentle, subtle color.

Each tanner retained its unique color profile. I'm thinking there is definitely more than just the DHA from each formula influencing the color.  We'll see how they evolve over time.

Remember, every one’s out for their own special something. I’m judging these tanners based on my own desires. If you’re looking for something similar, my commentary will help! If you’re not, the photos should help you decide. 

What I’m looking for: A “natural” looking olive green-brown medium tan. Not too light, not too dark. Not orange but not too green. Ideally zero yellow (I think this is impossible though, so at least minimal yellow).

I stopped tanning a few weeks ago. Since I prefer to be on the tan side and have no real time to lay outside, I purchased this self tanner called Tanceuticals. When I was younger I tried every type self tanner with terrible results. Nothing worked so when I was 19ish I started going to the tanning salon but anyway

TANCEUTICALS IS A REALLY GOOD SELF TANNER. it’s a CC cream so it’s amazing for your skin. The color is exactly what I would get from being in a tanning bed. it’s only 25 dollars with free shipping. I’m probably going to get five or six uses out of the bottle and you only have to apply it once a week (I applied it exactly a week ago and it didn’t flake off or anything, just gradually faded into my natural color).

I probably sound overly excited about this product but I’m proud of myself for not tanning because I was super addicted and it’s terrible for you. If you’re looking for a new self tanner, this is the way to go. It’s a fairly new product so there aren’t a lot of reviews yet but I discovered it on selftanning.com.
