This morning I finally was able to get into @tandemcoffeeroasters After having been featured in @bonappetitmag last summer, the popularity of this coffee shop has gone through the roof. On any given Saturday morning, the line is out of the door even in frigid weather. So, this Friday morning offered an opportunity for me to investigate what this spot was all about. The fairly small, but full of natural light place met me with vibrancy. The pastry display offered what seemed ordinary: a variety of scones, cookies and quiches. The choices were not what I’d expected but then I did not know what to expect. I needed an accompaniment for my coffee, so I got a lemon pistachio scone. Feeling uninspired, I took a quick bite of the scone with a sip of coffee aiming to finish my breakfast quickly and be on my way. Until suddenly the chunky lemon zest locked my taste buds in euphoria. The delicate balance of lemon and pistachio taste was PERFECT! This was actually the BEST scone I’d ever had! My ordinary morning turned from good to great, until I took my last sip of coffee and noticed this sweet message at the bottom of my mug - in the photo.
