been getting more and more into tabitha and kaneeka as a ship since chapter 5 came out, and i'm absolutely not someone who is like "this is the only ship for this character and i will accept nothing else" because y'know, it's fun to play dolls, but dude. taneeka is one of the ships of all time

i feel like it's just such a gem when characters not only have in-text chemistry, but also have a whole narrative significance/character foil thing going on.

on one side, hating someone because you think they don't understand your sacrifice and lack of autonomy (because nobody could!), and then finding out they were born to be a cog just like you, seeing them start to accept it the way you have, and THEN having the chance to save them from that at the cost of either solidifying your own lack of autonomy or breaking down the very thing you gave it up to preserve, and (in some paths) going for it on instinct because no, not them, they're too hopeful and strong-willed for this, they can't give up, not like this

but then on the other side, always being the odd one out for wanting to live your own life and wanting to change the way things are, resenting the person who represents the corrupt bones of everything you grew up around and knew to be wrong, realizing you are actually trapped even more than you thought and (in some paths) having the person you resent be the one to try and snap you out of it and basically tell you that no, you are important, you were right, you matter? but also it's terrifying, because you realize the web you've been caught in was so, so much more complex and personal than you could've ever imagined, and you don't know if you are right anymore??
