billford is a ship founded on the non-consensual manipulation and torture of stanford pines at the hands of bill, as well as the many ways their relationship comes across as kink. to not allow non-consensual work would be disingenuous and erasing a big part of the broad appeal of this ship.

if we completely disallow non-consent, suddenly creators can't even reference things that happened canonically in the series. to allow some things and not others creates a whole conundrum of argument over what is too much, because every person's definition is going to be different. it's not cut and dry. even if we did want to disallow works featuring rape, we would still want to allow consensual-non-consent and dubious-consent. how do you as a moderator and editor draw the line between what what is consensual and what is rape when the line is so obscured? how do you know if what's going on is consensual in a single drawing where it's not possible to establish consent?

it is in fact easier to work with artists and writers to make sure their pieces approach the subject thoughtfully than to ban it altogether. plus, I believe that there is a place for fictional depictions of all things, regardless of whether or not I personally agree or disagree with them. i prefer a world where people are allowed to make things that I don't like than one where people are censored.

i almost said "well he's irresponsible enough for it" but no actually he goes on multiple rants about how fucking is just DNA's way of perpetuating itself by tricking people into producing their own replacements, and he seems to despise that fact. so i actually don't think he'd be that irresponsible with sex, i think if he thinks there's any chance he could make or have a baby then he'd take measures to prevent it. which means he might accidentally produce a kid ONCE, then not again now that he knows that's a concern he needs to be alert for.

and besides that i think it undermines his "last of his kind, no family, no true friends" narrative if he's been casually producing trianglespawn and abandoning them. gonna build his entire traumatic backstory around being the last euclidean and not having the power to undo that crushing isolation, and then try to claim he's been strewing half-euclideans all across the multiverse?

if bill's got children out there somewhere, that's the kind of character-upturning detail that ought to get direct narrative focus, either to show how that impacts & changes his character, or to explain why the hell it didn't impact his character. for me it just doesn't work as a random funny background detail.

Kinda surreal to see people explain WHY Tumblr is implementing age verification in the UK and Brazil just to see responders argue that it's still all Tumblr's fault for complying. They don't want to imagine that this is anything but a bad UI choice that can be turned around by yelling at social media employees. "What's the government got to do with fascism?", or something like that

Tumblr putting in age verification in places where age verification is now legally required: not much they can do to avoid this. Like, Meta could probably fight it with some chance of success if they wanted to, but Tumblr doesn't have anything like the clout required.

Tumblr moderation aggressively and disproportionately flagging posts by or depicting trans people and people of color as "mature" no matter what the content is? Very much their fault and they should yelled at about it until they are finally browbeaten into fixing it, or the end of time, whichever comes first.

I wonder if the GF art book will have any completely unseen art in it since so far there’s been some obscure picks like the original Dipper concept art but still things that have been floating around the internet for a while
