A replica StuG III at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, NY on Long Island. It was apparently made from a British Fv432 APC. Not a bad job. Sturmgeschütz III tank destroyer. (March 2019)
Alecto Self-Propelled Gun
The Alecto (named after on of the three Furies) was a development of the A25 Light Tank Mk VIII Harry Hopkins. It used a lightweight version of the Mk. VIII chassis and was armed with a 95-millimetre (3.7 in) howitzer. A small number of Alecto Is were completed, some served briefly with the British Army in Germany, arriving in the immediate post-war period and they equipped the heavy companies of at least the Kings Dragoon Guards operating in the Middle East just after the end of the war.
Several were converted to dozers for use by the Royal Engineers while another was tested as an armoured personnel carrier.

FV4401 Contentious Tank Destroyer
Designed as an air transportable tank destroyer, the FV4401 Contentious was based on the chassis of the Comet tank (although it had four road wheels instead of five). Initially armed with the 84mm 20 pounder gun, this was later upgraded to the L7 105 mm gun.
In order to maintain a low weight to be air transportable and minimize its profile height, it did not have a turret. Instead, the gun was mounted on an open hull with an autoloader. The gun had a limited transverse, with aim being by steering the tank. Elevation was achieved by raising the road wheels with a hydraulic system. Each wheel could be moved independently to move the elevation up or down.
The only prototype produced was constructed of boiler plate, to evaluate the vehicles layout. No production of the Contentious was undertaken.
