I'd love an info packet! it'd be like a primer but with neat little infographics printed on semi-gloss paper and folded into thirds. :))) (and buddy, i could srsly use a new toaster, too. my current one only does one side of the bread). That said, I hope the winky-face was a sign that you don't feel truly left out of the fannish experience!! I was very lucky because I came into things with princess-siddnttety as a pal/fan-sponsor (then sucked in thought- as well) and always had at least one person with whom to squee. ARE YOU OKAY, FANNISHTALK?

Some days I wonder why ppl cheer for a particular team instead of another. Like, why did that person chose the Flyers instead of another team? I’m not bashing the Flyers, I’m honestly curious! Like, I’m a Hawks fan bc Tumblr exposed me to PKane’s face (and the rest of the team is just full of cuties <3), but I wonder what would have happened if I started following ppl who are Canucks fans, for example! IDK, thoughts /o/

This is a good question! So many roads not taken... :) I wonder if our taste in other media and narratives affects which hockey franchise we tie ourselves to. (Mostly when I'm tearing out my hair asking why characters I love die and also why the Oilers are so frequently so bad at the hockey thing.)

Checking things off the to do list is legit the best this is a true thing I can attest to it. Only beaten by raw cookie dough.

I have a major to-do that I've been procrastinating on, but as soon as this replies post is done I am closing tumblr and working towards checking that off! WOO. Also, bad news RE: cookie dough...

NO FUN AT ALL, I'M SO SORRY TANPOPO03!! :( a friend of mine got salmonella this spring and yes, that would be very strong encouragement to avoid the cause of the poisoning. hope it's like lightning and never hits the same person twice!

I'm afraid I started writing more in this verse and I'm saying that in an apologetic way because I switched to Mike's pov and it turned into the ANGSTIEST SHIT EVER, because I decided that Harvey doesn't cave on actually getting involved until Grammy dies and Mike loses his shit.  so right now I have 1200 words of Mike in a grief haze that I won't post until I've found some way for Harvey to make it better, haha.  WHAT DID YOU DOOOOO.

You probably already have prompts piling up but here’s one more: Mike is a sports star (and Harvey’s client) and Harvey has a crush :D

I made him a tennis star for the funny.  also, pre-D/s elements snuck in, TO THE SHOCK AND DISMAY OF EVERYONE HERE, I'M SURE.  sorry, not sorry.

Harvey initially pursued Mike to piss off Louis, but once that mission was accomplished, Mike ended up becoming his favorite client.

He wasn't the most lucrative, and it's not like Harvey suddenly cares about tennis.  In fact, he can't stand to watch Mike play - his style can be best described as "flailing," and it's physically painful to behold.  

But God, this kid.  

"Is it possible to get a restraining order against your own lawyer?"  Mike likes to stop by with no appointment or announcement when he's bored.  Donna loves him even more than Harvey does, so she lets him do what he wants.  

Harvey doesn't bother to look up from his laptop.  "I swear, the shrine should be taken as a compliment, Mike.  Don't be scared."

"You have a shrine?  That's adorable.  I meant Louis.  He drooled on my shoes in the elevator."

He hits send on the email he was finishing and sits back.  Mike is sprawled out in front of him, eyes are sharp and shining. Harvey has to smile back.  "I'm sure he'd lick them clean again if you asked."

The look of horror on Mike's face is genuine.  "Oh, God.  Harvey.  No."

"I'm not suggesting he do it with his clothes off," Harvey says innocently, just to see Mike squirm.  He could make the kid blush to his toes by saying what he really thinks, which is Mike would rather be the bootlicker.  There are some lines Harvey can't cross, though.  Not with a client.  They dance on the line as it is, often enough.

"Any actual business today, or did you just pop in to waste my time?"

"Waste, my ass.  Like you're not gonna bill me for it, later."

"So that's a no, then."  He does bill him every time and doesn't feel the least bit guilty for it - Mike is taking his attention away from other work, for one thing.  For another, services are being rendered, just not legal ones.  Mike doesn't always understand what he needs when he stops by, but Harvey gives it to him.

Now that he knows it's not legal advice he's doling out today, he lets his eyes drag over Mike's body, draped in ill-fitting, stained frat boy clothes.  He lets his disdain show. The kid's a household name and refuses to wear anything worth more than $10.  "Didn't I get you a Tom Ford sponsorship last week?"

Mike's body relaxes and aligns itself toward Harvey in a way that he's utterly unconscious of.  "Oh my god, you snob.  I'm not working today, I want to be comfortable."

"I'm glad you recognize how unprofessional you look at the moment - setting aside the fact that your job as a representative of Tom Ford doesn't have business hours, you still came to my place of business dressed like one of the Boxcar Children.  Did you think about how that makes me look?"

Mike flushes a little and sinks into his seat, but his face is mulish.  "I don't see why it matters."

It's an argument they've had so many times, Harvey doesn't even try to contain his eye-roll.  As brilliant as Mike is, he doesn't understand the world he's been thrust into.  He enjoys the success and security, but hates the game that comes with them, and needs Harvey to smack him upside the head on a semi-regular basis or else he pouts.  

He's got so many people clamoring to kiss his ass these days, he doesn't recognize how badly he needs to be told 'no.'

"Look, I'm not having this discussion again.  It matters because I say it does, and if you show up here again underdressed, I'm going to come to your place and burn every piece of clothing that's not name-brand."

"Fine," Mike says, like he's making a generous concession.  He probably tells himself he's humoring Harvey, but to Harvey it's so clear that Mike's relieved to have a bit of structure.  Finite expectations that are easy to follow, enforceable.  "I won't offend your eyes any longer with the filth of the common folk.  Are you happy?"

"Getting closer," Harvey tells him, and Mike's so pleased with that that he looks away.  "Now get the hell out of my office, some of us have jobs to do."

"Yes, sir." Mike snarks, but quickly gathers himself to go at the look on Harvey's face.  Harvey watches him leave, feeling that emotional tangle unique to Mike as he walks away.

"Just to give you a heads up," Donna says over the intercom, "I have June 22nd in the office how-long-til-Harvey-fucks-that-kid pool.  I'm gonna need you to step it up or I lose $300."

"Go away, Donna," Harvey says, and spins his chair to stare out at Lexington Avenue. He's a lot closer than she thinks.

How could I not. Harvey/Mike: Safewording. Then snuggling. And/or: Girl!Mike has a kid which she doesn't tell Harvey about at first.

I'm tempted to fill the second one too sometime, but for now, here's the safewording one - long enough with dialogue breaks to stick behind a cut

"Red.  Red, red. Shit - Harvey, red, shit, I'm sorry, red, I'm so sorry - "

His fingers are on the knots after the first word, but Mike's struggling pulled them too tight - he tells Mike it's okay, it's fine, hold on I've got you, but Mike can't turn it off, babbling more frenetically as Harvey grabs the scissors from nearby.  Even once he's loose, he still sounds distraught and panicked, safeword falling away in favor of "Harvey, I'm so sorry, shit shit, what's wrong with me," and it's painful to see.

Every attempt at calming him fails til Harvey does what he was trying to avoid til he knows what, exactly, set Mike off: he grabs Mike's jaw and says, "Stop."

It silences Mike immediately. In fact, he relaxes.

"Okay," Harvey breathes, trying to back himself away from panic. He rubs his hands up and down Mike's arms, as much for himself as Mike.  "Okay, you're okay.  Do you need something?  Tell me what you need."

Mike just shakes his head, mouth ajar and eyes pleading.  "I don't know.  I don't know...what happened, I just - "

"Okay," Harvey says before he can ramp up.  "Okay, how about some water.  Can I get you water?"

Mike nods, and even though there's a bottle of water on the endtable, Harvey pats Mike's arm and exits the room.  He pulls a glass from the cabinet and fills it at the fridge, taking the moment just to breathe, more shaken than he should be.  There was no sign anything was wrong up until Mike panicked, but that shouldn't make him lose his head.  He shouldn't have tied him up, it was too soon.  God, he's never heard Mike scared, not like that, he shouldn't have....

Mike's curled in on himself, arms wrapped around his knees, when Harvey returns.  He looks more lucid, though.  He takes the glass of water, but immediately sets it aside.

"Harvey, I don't know what happened.  I'm so sorry.  I asked for this and I couldn't even - "  He sketches out something with his hands, at a loss for words.

"It's okay.  Was it...what I was saying, or being tied up...?"

"Being tied up," Mike says decisively, and Harvey breathes a little freer.  "I don't...  I'll do better next time, I promise, I don't know what's wrong with me - "

"Hey."  Harvey reaches out and grabs Mike's hand.  "Nothing's wrong with you, and there's nothing to do better.  I mean it - stop apologizing, okay?"

Mike's mouth quirks.  

"What?"

"Nothing, I just never thought you'd tell me there's no room for improvement.  Did you get body-snatched?"

"Smartass."  Harvey settles up against the headboard and pulls Mike to him.  He kisses the top of Mike's head as he gets comfortable.  After a quiet moment, he says, "I'm not upset that you safeworded.  You know that, right?  I'd never get upset with you for that."

"I guess I do.  I just...feel stupid.  I said I wanted to do this, and then I can't make it five minutes into our first time without - "

"It doesn't matter.  It's not something to prove."

That's a concept against Mike's very nature - Harvey's too - so he takes Mike's silence with a grain of salt.  He's probably not going to be able to convince Mike there's no shame in what he did, not completely and not yet.  They'll have to work on that.

"I still want to do this, I promise.  Just.  Maybe not - "

"- bondage, yeah.  That's okay.  There's a lot we can do."

"I don't even understand what happened," Mike says again.  "I've never felt so....  Just, all of a sudden I couldn't...like my skin was crawling, I couldn't stand it for another second.  I don't know why.  It's not that I don't trust you - "

There's still this plaintive, guilty pleading quality to Mike's voice right now, and Harvey can't stand it.  He can't stand Mike thinking he's somehow let him down, that he needs to make up for this.  Harvey resituates them so they're laying on their sides, face to face.  He tucks Mike's head under his chin and holds him tight.  

"You're a good boy, Mike."  Mike squeezes him so tight, he loses his breath.  Harvey simply squeezes back.  "I know you trust me, it just happened, and you did exactly right.  You did exactly what you should do, and I'm so proud of you.  If you want to try other things, we will; if you don't, we won't.  I'm not mad or hurt or doubting you at all.  Because you did well.  You did what you should."

Mike relaxes like he's relieved, and Harvey does too, because he fixed it. They're okay.  They're okay.

Hey! Are you still planning on posting time-stamps or maybe even a follow up to "I Got a Love (That Keeps Me Waiting)"? I have a deep-seated need for more of it for reasons! Please?

I figured I’d respond to this one publicly, since you are not the only one who has asked me. I am definitely gonna be posting a sequel type thing to IGAL, so here is your 411:

- I have done pretty much no work on it since posting IGAL! My brain was not ready to think about it. My brain is very confused that it’s all even happening. But I feel like I’m close to having the whole thing in my head, and anticipate starting work on it soon. 

- there are at least 9 futurefic epilogue type things. I anticipate these being minimally 80K. I am only at 30K. I am vaguely hoping to have these done this summer, but all of this is contingent on how some v. big life changing type things shake out, and how much time/energy/spirit I have. Gotta be in a certain mood to write, you know? Basically, they will finish when they finish; I am not going to rush them/myself, so you can safely assume that I am working on them and that they will finish at some point in that nebulous future. But I can tell you that I am definitely going ALL OUT ON THESE THINGS re: SOAPY DRAMA and so far, I like them better than the main story. So hey, go with that. I haven’t decided if I’ll post all of the epilogues at once, or do a thing where I post three epilogues/period of wait while I write and ponder the universe/repeat. (And I know I am abusing the word epilogues here. Go with epilogues/futurefic in your head, obviously.)

- once those are posted, I will mosey over to my LJ, throw up a post along the lines of “ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANNA SEE” and I will write whatever people want in comments or something, but that won’t happen until all the epilogues/futurefic are well and truly complete. You aren’t going to know you want more stuff about Lena Crosby and Original Character X that you’ll meet in futurefic until I show you that you really, really do, right?!

I HOPE THAT HELPS. This is basically my - 2014 writing ‘schedule’, right there. I’m still v. excited to write it; it’s just - really ambitious for me and has kind of weird/different psychology and themes, along with this, you know, Epic All-Consuming Love thing that I’m going for here, so I can’t exactly just poke at it until it goes away. 

ETA: And a bunch of people wanted a DVD commentary when I was posting the first half as a WiP on LJ, so I will likely be posting that. I have plans to use it as a shot in the arm and to motivate writing, so, you know, be nice to me when I post that thing if you feel like you wanna help this whole…thing along here.
