Tihon a Slovakian vampire & the leader of the Denali coven. Tihon was born in ancient Slovakia. He was the first of Alexy’s adoptive sons. He was Alexy’s biological great-nephew, and when Alexy yearned for companionship, he chose Tihon to join him. Within his first century as a vampire, Alexy added two more vampires to their family, Kirill and Ivan. They have been close as a family since then.

Since Tihon was closest to Alexy, he was impacted stronger than his brothers when Alexy’s crime of creating an immortal child was revealed. He did not understand the reason behind Alexy’s actions, but once the Volturi tested Tihon and his brothers’ innocence and they were spared execution, he did understand why his father had kept it secret from them. Their father’s death left the brothers traumatized, and as a result they are purists for vampire laws.

The pain of loss and emptiness became unbearable for Tihon and his brothers, and they tried to fill it with a long line of flirtations, which were enough to frequently distract them from their loss. However, every man they courted ended in death due to their inability to resist their blood. This continuous act earned them the title “succubus"—a demon who seduced men and lured them to their deaths. Over time, Tihon & his brothers began to feel remorse over these small losses; Tihon was the first to become sensitive. When the pain became unbearable, he gave up human men for a time, but the loneliness returned. Tihon then tried to think of a way to go back to his romantic pursuits without killing his human companions. After much thought, he decided it was the steady diet of human blood that made it difficult for him to resist the blood of specific humans he had wished to spare. Eventually, he discovered that drinking animal blood took care of his nutritional needs without weakening his ability to resist human blood. He showed this method to his brothers, and in a few centuries they had perfected their “vegetarianism”. While mostly courting with humans, Tihon had also courted with vampires, though he had never found his match.

When he met Eleazar and Carmen, he was happy to explain his dietary choices. As the newcomers became closer and closer to Tihon & his brothers, Tihon naturally took his place as the leader of the family. He was delighted to meet the Cullen family, and saw Carlisle as his peer in many ways. He was also intrigued by Edward Cullen, mostly because he showed no interest in his advances despite the fact that Edward had no partner. Tihon never gave up his lighthearted pursuit of Edward, which is one of the reasons the Cullens did not settle in Alaska with the Denalis.
