shed/dead season 2024-25

#its been a good one! best one yet and for the foreseeable future #missing a antler (I traded it) and a couple spike/button skulls because I legitimately don’t know where I put them #some of these antlers are sawed which I generally don’t like doing but it’s cause the skulls were smashed beyond fixing or broke off from #the crash itself. I called all these deer in and they were tagged and salvageable meat was donated #keeping the antlers is remembering the animal for me #take.flight #taphonomy.trinkets #animal bones #bone hunting #shed hunting #vulture culture

#only took the shed antler buck home #nature did the work for me of cleaning him up. took his spine which is something I don’t normally do but there was no cartilage or anythin #he’s gonna get a wash and then I’m gonna reassemble #other two stayed put. I’m too lazy to clean them and I have so many deer skulls #take.flight #taphonomy.trinkets #animal bones #bone collecting #bone hunting #vulture culture

Boys are done degreasing for now. Hot summer has been a blessing and a curse, I can’t do anything without feeling miserable, but fast progress in my buckets. Gonna let them dry and then see if I can pinpoint more greasy spots if there are any left. If not or if I’m not sure, I’m going to give them peroxide rounds to clear that bacterial staining, help dissolve stubborn corpse wax, and make any grease more visible.
