“Maple Syrup Days Are Here,” The Globe and Mail. April 7, 1938. Page 04. ---- Making of maple syrup and sugar provides employment for many farmers and their families in Prince Edward County. The yield this year is only fair, but the maple products are in great demand. On the farm of Willis Sills, Athol Township, 1,000 trees are tapped. Pictures are Mr. Sills’s two sons, Harold and Morley, assisting their father in gathering the sap, with the aid of a team and small sleigh, dumping the sap in a large wooden barrel.
