Got inspired to paint this leaf in watercolours, although I feel like I messed it up. Maybe I've stared at it for too long... I think this might be the leaf of a sugar maple (Acer saccharum). I had a photo as a reference, I did not paint this from memory, just to be clear.

I love taking a moment to appreciate the little things like watching ants collecting the sweet nectar of peonies. My dad's yard where I grew up offered little things like that to me every summer. His small farm with some rolling hills and border of woods was an important part of my love of trees and wildlife.

My mother planted many perennials like peonies and lillies and there are some large maple trees around the edges of the yard and locust trees at the bottom.

In May 2015, my dad still had an old barn. The house was built in 1940 with an addition in the 1950s. There seemed to be some evidence of an older house and the style of the barn was pre-1900s

Just over the hill from where the barn used to be is a centennial sugar maple (Acer saccharum) tree with our old fire pit in the locust grove underneath.

These wide maple leaves have been seen so many times swaying back and forth over the bonfires where I would hang out with my friends. That rhythmic sway stays in my brain and it reminds me of those quieter times.

Hero Form Appearance: A combination of a paladin's uniform and YuYuYu’s Hero Form Outfits. The undersuit of the outfit is a gorgeous maple bark brown- and the main outfit is syrup yellow at the shoulders and collar, then orange in the middle, and then fading to red at the lower half of the sleeves, the lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat which gives off the illusion of an Autumn themed dessert with a rich chocolate center. Accent colors include white, gray, black, silver, gold, and green. The shoes, gloves, and belt all have patterns of sugar maple leaves; and the only other accessory is a sugar maple leaf hairclip in Maple Syrup's hair. The plant’s leaf shape can be seen in the tailcoat and collar.
