But different!
This time around, instead of taking pictures to take them, we’ll be using our cameras with purpose. In rethinking TaPT, I wanted to find way to, not only utilize our neglected Instagram account, but also show you new techniques for phoneography - since almost everyone has a hone with a camera and the convenience sometimes can’t be beat. Smartphones make snapping a picture and sharing it to Instagram, Facebook, and even Tumblr a seamless and easy process, and this is especially valuable for parents who love to share pictures of their children and adventures.
But before we get into the multifaceted world of phoneography next week, let’s discuss applications for editing! Here are some of my personal favorites, feel free to add your own. {Some of these may not be free, just a warning in advance.}
VSCO Cam: iOS | Google Play With tons of different filters and editing options to give your photos an edge, VSCO is my most used application. Every picture goes through it, even if I don’t use a filter, I am able to rotate, crop, play with shadows and highlights. It’s incredibly useful and easy to use.
PhotoGrid: iOS | Google Play It’s like Picmonkey, but mobile. Choose your pictures, and it pops them into a collage for you. You can change its settings from what style of collage, to how thick the borders are. It’s a fun, spamless, way to share a bunch of pictures at once. Collages are the way to go.
Squaready: iOS Another one I use ALL the time. Because I can’t stand square cropping my photos I use Squaready to showcase the full picture, while still fitting Instagram’s cropping restrictions. Very easy to use, and there are several other options for Android too, I just don’t know offhand what they are or how they work.
Word Swag: iOS Ignoring the ridiculous name, if you’re a fan of typography - Word Swag is the simplest way to make beautiful words appear. Type what you want to say, and the application gives you options that will give your photo a different tone You won’t have to mess around with aligning each word, or with making sure the spacing is correct, or the fonts match - Word Swag does it for you. {I used the application for the picture above.}
Rhonna Designs: iOS | Google Play One thing Word Swag lacks is a variety of doodles; cute banners, arrows, flowers, flourishes to make your photos pop a little more. This is where Rhonna Designs comes in, the app is a paid app and then you have to pay for some additional design packages and fonts if you choose to, it is a total money suck, but it’s one I get a lot of use out of. Because it offers text tools, those on an Android who don’t have access to the Word Swag app can fully benefit from Rhonna Designs too.
Bonus Note: I LOVE Instragram, it is by far my favorite social media application, but truth be told I NEVER use their filters, and only use their camera for videos. Instagram, for me, is only a sharing platform and that’s why it didn’t make the list.
Which photo editing apps are you using most frequently?
