Finally trying to draw all of my Skylanders AU ideas in a shared sketchbook. And by that I mean all the Skylanders I'd add or reshuffle on top of the existing ones. I have a big Google doc and hopefully I'll eventually get past swap force lol.

For Spyro's adventure it's pretty simple, as I only added Light and Dark characters. But starting with Giants there will be new characters from all ten elements.

For Light we have:

Sparx- The childhood companion of Spyro. He, Spyro and Cynder all came to the citadel on the same day. In this universe a version of the classic Spyro adventures actually happened to build up Spyro's prior reputation as a hero and Sparx was there as he originally was. He grew so huge suddenly because he curiously flew into the beam of light from the ancient core, which caused him to absorb energy from the Eternal Light Source directly.

Spotlight- Her backstory implies she was there before the core was destroyed in the original game. So the difference in this au is that she's sent to earth instead of being banished to a Light element pocket dimension. The mysterious orb Master Eon touched to create her was actually an orb of imaginite in my version.

Lancelight- his name is a pun on Lancelot. He was born with wings too weak for flight, so he trained tirelessly to prove he could still be a skilled warrior. When he singlehandedly saved his city from a band of shadow wizards hoping to steal angel feathers, he decided to join the Skylanders instead of the Paladin guards.

Shimmer- A Rainbow tanuki (racoon dog) with rainbow and colorful light themed powers that are sourced from her tail. Kaos was allergic to her species, so he rounded up as many as he could so he could banish them all to another world. Being the sole rainbow tanuki left in Skylands, Shimmer joined the Skylanders to enact her revenge against the corrupt portal master. And to seek Eon's help to bring the rest of her species back home.

And For Dark we have:

Ebon- Inspired by Spyro and Dark Spyro splitting into separate dragons in Skylanders academy (even though I'm not keen on it) and by how Dark Spyro has his own moveset and upgrades in the 3DS games. After Spyro absorbed a cloud of Corruption (darkness) to protect the ancient core, Eon quickly used his powers to banish the dark power from Spyro's body. Spyro split out a dark blob that formed into an almost identical clone of himself with unique but powerful abilities. Spyro didn't trust Ebon at first, but now the two are basically like brothers.

Tar-clops- yep, the scrapped cyclopic sea slug who's original powers were given to Zap. I redesigned him as a literal Tar monster here, since "Tar-clops" is weird for a water name imo. When I think of Tar I think of the inky pitch black goo. Tar-clops was born from Kaos' troll army and their careless dumping of magical pollutants... And while he has the appetite of a black hole, he only seems to like eating trash, toxic waste and pollutants.

Witch-blade- a reformed Drow blade witch. Though since Drow are just elves who work for corrupt portal masters, she's basically identifies as an elf once more. She was originally left behind by the team of Drow she was working for, only to be rescued and given a second chance by Boomer, whom she considers her closest ally. Though the rest of the Skylanders have grown to appreciate her skills as well.

Shadow caster- a dark spell punk who left Kaos' army behind after traveling the world to learn new spells. In his quest for dark magical knowledge he ended up meeting new people and gaining new perceptions of the world, so he decided to use his new powers as a hero and sought out Master Eon himself.

Okay, So these guys were my first batch of custom Skylanders, and the basic premise was "What if Spyro's adventure had the Light and Dark elements." I decided to suggest that Spotlight and Blackout were there since 1: they are the only Light and Dark core Skylanders officially, and 2: Spotlight's origin story suggests she was with Eon and the other Skylanders when Kaos blew up the core, so I think it's safe to assume the same for Blackout. The first image was for concepts, and the images that follow are the finished products. In order we have....

Shadow caster, a dark spell punk who turned to the side of good after going on a journey to grow powerful. His catchphrase is "Cast the Darkness!" But I forgot it on his picture.

Then there's Lancelight, who's name isn't squished together yet. It's a pun name. He was ridiculed as a kid because his wings didn't grow in properly and he couldn't fly, but he still became a hero anyway. I also accidentally forgot his catchphrase, which is "Pierce the Heavens!"

After Lance is a recreation of a scrapped Skylander. Remember Zap? How he was gonna be a blob monster named Tar-clops? This resign leans into the "Tar" part of his name, hence why he's now a living blob of pollution. He was born from the careless dumping of toxic waste and actually goes on to clean the environments he visits by eating pollutants.

Shimmer is a Rainbow Tanooki or Racoon dog, and she vowed revenge against Kaos after he banished her entire species to another dimension. Kaos hated how cute they were and he was also allergic.

I actually wasn't a big fan of Skylanders Academy... but the idea of Spyro and Dark Spyro splitting into two separate entities combined with the 3DS games giving Dark Spyro his own unique moveset made me want to turn him into his own character. He named himself Ebon, and he was born when Eon quickly expelled darkness from Spyro's body.

Finally there's Bug zapper, cause I thought an electric firefly would be cute. He was once a,normal firefly, but he landed on a lightning rod a wizard was using and he was struck by enchanted lightning.
