“I’ll be better one day”
“I’ll be good I promise,” Katsuki murmurs into Eijiron’s limp hand, “I’ll be the best just for you,” he swears but his voice breaks and his vision blurs and his throat fills up and up until he can’t find it in himself to breathe again - he tries, he tries but the dam breaks. The list of things Eijirou deserves is longer than Katsuki’s accomplishments and he’s been shit at ticking off the boxes, he’s been inattentive and bad and the worst and now Eijirou’s deaf to his prayers, and doctors avoid him. And he’d say no, the idiot, he’d say don’t, he’d say I love you the way you are, because he doesn’t know, him the star, how much light he gives off, how much better Katsuki should have learnt to be, how little time they have left.
