"do y'all want to leave?"
There's a place for everyone on Hataraka~
been doing some silly role play shenanigans in the chat and finally named my tarakonan spider to bring them/bru in~
Meet Kami~
@grim-ghou1 thanks for spending time with my OC! The little one is their OC Theo~
here's some of the concepts/inspirations for um
I think I'm ready to put clothes on um~💕
I'll center them better on the next page so I can actually fit the brute's tail lol
"do y'all want to leave?"
Not done but already happy with it
You can't actually know your gender in isolation. It's contextual. How can you know if you're a brute or general or scholar if there's no one around to compare yourself to? It's the same with the human "western" binary. How do you know you're a man without women? A lone tarakonan is viewed differently by different cultures. Sometimes they see one of the 3 genders as a default. Sometimes they prioritize acknowledging the confusion that individual would feel and don't prescribe a gender. But no matter what, the context of the collective is seen as important
Athena's arch in Epic reminds me of how my world building developed. The way she goes from thinking of a general as a smart brute instead of a truly separate thing. It's actually hilarious looking at the line "I mistook you for a general what a waste of effort spent" because she's clearly been a general looking for a brute. She's just wanted someone to follow her, not a friend to mentor into an equal. She's not actually realized what looking for a general actually means. She still later holds onto looking down on brutes she sees as not worthy. "I've no respect for bullies. Those who impose their will" Probably cause she sees them all as failed generals. Hypocrite. As she's been trying to impose her will on others. But she's a general. She doesn't impose her will the same way as brutes.
Generals used to be called Superiors in the earliest stages of my world development. I really loved when I thought to change the word to general. Cause it's a word for a military leader but also a word that means average. It's got that "double" meaning and reflects more how I've come to see the gender~
I'm really proud of my labeling of the Tarakonan gender "General"
It took me a long time to settle on the label for the third gender. Scholar and Brute always made sense. Those are basically the two genders that exist now. That was the binary I had to break out of.
But when I first did, I fell into the trap that a lot of stuff (like Star Trek) does.
Id. Ego. Super Ego.
"Ideal" "super ego" people aren't the rulers over the Ids and Egos. They are a balancing force just like the other two genders.
Oh man I gotta stop for today and work on fics instead or something
The vest killed me and I'm still not happy with it orz
