writers ask meme::: 4, 11 and 15
✍ Finally, an ask-meme for writers! ✍
04: Have you ever thrown a book across the room?
Not to my recollection but I can’t imagine being angry enough to actually throw something, being that I’d have to go pick it up and I’m all kinds of lazy.
11: What’s your favorite book cover?
The covers for the Time Life Enchanted World’s series are horribly beautiful. I also love the cover of Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Ocean at the End of the Lane’, which is my favorite of his books.
14: What’s your favorite writing blog? c;
I’m not entirely sure what that means? I don’t seek out blogs about writing, mostly because I feel like writers should (at least to some degree) find their own voice and write the way that suits them best, even if it’s not ‘perfect’. Some of the greatest writers in history broke the mold and wrote beautiful things by coloring outside the lines. Jack Kerouac, Alan Ginsberg, Hunter S. Thompson. Heck, even William Shakespeare.
That being said, there are writers who inspire the heck out of me with their web presence and one of the oldest (and the one that’s helped me the most where RP and fanfic cinema are concerned) is Wordplayer, kept by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio who are also known as the genius team behind Aladdin and PotC: Curse of the Black Pearl. Their views on writing (my favorite stuff talks about thematic unity and set ups/pay offs), working in the industry and dealing with the reality of film making are compiled in a great archive of columns that are worth more to me than any creative writing class.
I also just love listening to Joss Whedon’s commentaries.
