King Daeron II Targaryen sending his best PR-team (and Maekar + sons) to the Tourney at Ashford Meadow to strengthen the Targaryens' public image:
You know, I just cannot /not/ see Myriah having some hand in whom Baelor married since Daeron seemed to be hellbent on getting him a Marcher bride. Myriah would want to make sure that Baelor didn't wake up with a blade to his neck in the middle of the night.
I know with the Marcher Houses, while they're all old, some are older than others. The Swanns and the Carons? Far more powerful. Much older than the other houses. The Dondarrions are old (they started out as an Andal House, not long after the Andal invasion, and a Durrandon King formed their house and granted the first Dondarrion Blackhaven (that's the tldr version of it)). But i always saw the Dondarrions as having a great deal of political capitol? Like maybe they're a very well liked house in the Marchlands and the Stormlands at large, and as such they have tremendous political capitol because of that. And overall they might not have been as...openly violent about their anti dornish sentiment at the time that they were looking for a bride for Baelor.
But since I think there's no way Myriah wouldn't have had an influence in whom Baelor married (as much as I like the idea that Baelor did have some of his own choice in the matter), I wonder if she actively picked House Dondarrion, or her and Jena had encounters or - who knows what could have happened.
I also like the idea that the Daeron and Myriah started poking around during Daenerys and Maron Martell's wedding. it was said the entirety of the realm was invited in the name of unity. Maybe Myriah said to Daeron (basically) that 'I hate this idea but since you're determined, we are doing this my way.'
(I also am admittedly into the idea that maybe they met at Daenerys and Maron's wedding and Baelor had to crown Daenerys as the Queen of Love and Beauty when he won the tourney and earned his nickname since it was her wedding but if he had it his way, he'd have crowned Jena.)
mmm i'm so into every point here... my personal headcanon is that baelor is the BEST kind of mama's boy and of course myriah would know what kind of lady he'd be into. and i think for both myriah and daeron ii like... that's their beautiful boy, yeah they're gonna need to make a political match but they also want to find him someone he's gonna be happy with (happy wife = happy realm & so on). so yeah i still think that all of their sons' marriages were arranged but i think they cooked with baelor/jena and with maekar/dyanna in particular (rhaegel/alys seemed fine? functional? do NOT know wtf they were thinking w aerys/aelinor though)
also this is canon jena to me:
Ānogro ñurho hēdrȳ kīviō dārilaros māzīlza, se zȳhon vāedri suvio perzō kessa. — From my blood come the prince that was promised, and his/hers shall be the song of ice and fire.
Lopondo se ōrbraro hēdrȳ ānogrosa anehuro qēlo gō siglīlaks, ziry va sȳndrorro gierūljas luot vējot ōños magza lȳs azantys issa. — Born amidst salt and smoke beneath a bleeding star, s/he is the warrior that brings the light against the doom that gathers in the darkness.
Va iōrverte lilza lȳs zaldrīzes hāri bartossa aemilus, kessyt perzys ānogar vīlībāzme ōzo ērinilus. — Three heads shall have the dragon that dances against the cold, for fire and blood must win the war for the dawn.
(prophecy wording by @greenbloods, high valyrian translation by me)
whats nuts to me is baelor, daemon, bloodraven, shiera, aerys, rhaegal, maekar, daenerys were all kids growing up together in the red keep. like the CHAOS good god.
live footage of daeron ii every day at about 11:45am having to deal with that lineup
on the pronunciation : it is accurately eh-gon for aegon. important to note that these are foreign valyrian names to westeros, so i do think westerosi (english) speakers would pronounce it wrong as aygon.
and a lot of foreigners roll with how their names are commonly pronounced even if its wrong, partly to fit in.
(that being said the show is quite inconsistent on this)
i just KNOW that jaehaerys 1 had to spend the first 10 years of his reign telling everyone "it's juh-hair-is... ok yes that's j as in jester... a as in apple... e as in egg... h as in horse..."

the jena fc ohmygod giulia farnese mention, the borgias mention, lotte verbeek mention EEEE 🙂↕️🙂↕️
i'm sure i'm not the first girlie to fancast lotte verbeek giulia farnese as jena dondarrion but i will NOT be the last i am here to spread that agenda far and wide. like THAT'S who westeros was gonna have as queen. that's who was breaking breakspear's spear on the regular. iktr
questionnnn... do you pronounce maekar like may-kar or my-kar? i have multiple friends who pronounce it the latter way and it confuses me so much. he is not my car. also the ae should be pronounced the same as the ae in baelor.
i pronounce them the same, so may-kar and bay-lor. but yeah i'm always a little befuddled by how targ names get pronounced. like if aegon is egg-on then aemon should be em-mon but it's always pronounced ay-mon. what is the Truth
Like quentyn ball had to be like super nanny training all those kids no wonder he was pissed when daeron didn't let him be a kingsguard like he babysat these demons for YEARS
i'm teleporting into pre-blackfyre rebellion westeros and i'm giving a 12 pack of cotton candy alanis, a joint, and a gun to quentyn ball and telling him "use this as you see fit"
