thinking abt the power of video games and the time i played da2 for the first time and we got that scene with the romanced character coming to the Hawke estate to comfort them about Leandra's death and let me tell you it changed me fundamentally as a person to see Anders sitting next to me on the bed and telling me that he would be there for me and to only ask if there was anything i should want from him.....
i had lost my mom a few years back very suddenly and in a gruesome way (breast cancer) and (as i recall, mind you i was traumatised and can only now start to admit that i was) NO ONE ever said such things to me and it just shattered something inside of me.
So badly in fact that my first instinct was to sneer at it, I was so annoyed that this was treated as a big deal bc mothers die and that's how it is, could we move on. but i sat there with my feelings and realised many things about myself
and that's entirely on Anders Dragon Age in the half assed heavily critisised DA2. he did it when no one else did. five years late but it mattered to me.
bambi about sabine: she is gorgeous, hot, beautiful, divine and i love her because she is heaven personified, intelligent and emotionally mature and makes me feel safe and protected ❤️❤️❤️
bambi about jay: they're a fucking slut.
@drones-and-jorvikberries i love our stupid gay blorbos
i messaged the bg3 audio director (bc my best friend wouldnt stop gaslighting me about a bird call i kept telling i heard in the ambience) and they confirmed i was correct
this is how petty i can be
we've been discussing with my best friend and came to the conclusion that they have the most perfect straight male gaze with some downward movement, while my partner has the opposite, the straight female gaze. i am the god's most perfect bisexual and work on the entire field inbetween, and today i made a diagram with where different characters (and emma d'arcy) fall on it.
@onwardspasserine hit the all time low with Jay SSO and my partner with yours truly, while mine are always somewhere within the -0.95 to + 0.95 confidence interval
i am so fucking happy about my best friend. like, life is dark and full of terrors but then there is a freak who has five matching mental illnessess and one night you're scrolling through pictures of horses to pick out the one your fictional characters ride in your stupid oblivion text rpg.
and they nod along and present you theirs and then we look at them and come up with names for them and our inner children are laughing and holding hands.
i am saying life has a meaning. it's there and it can be in little fragments but it is there.
if i had written Ghilan'nain she'd have a younger, severely unfitting voice for her appearance, perhaps a little thwarted by the blight and absolutely driven by the mad passion.
I think her va did a great job but I just think it would have been neat to have her not have such a Disney villain voice when we already had it in Elgar'nan. Solas' ageless, old but young voice was brilliant and I think it would have been so cool for Ghilan'nain to have that bit of nuance. To really sell that she was Andruil's beloved once and "the most sensitive of us".
Elgar'nan had the relatively normal appearance but Ghilan'nain was really dehumanized and yes I get that it was the point but... that's just what I'd have done.
if i told you i had been writing a fic that is an AU where Dragon Age 2 and Poldark (2015 series/books) happen simultaneously and it would be told from a PoV of Ross' and Francis' half-elf cousin (who holds a fragment of Andruil bc i gotta tie it to my Inquisitor's plotline) who tries to live out their quiet life in the outskirts of Kirkwall (which replaces Truro) and somehow gets mixed into the shenanigans of a fellow named Hawke – would you be mad at me?
it feels illegal and it's SO NICHE i am gonna cry. i could do anything productive and here I am thinking about how to incorporate a magical terrorist into 18th century Cornwall
