so ill thinking about jay and bambi and the way that to each other they both have been 16 ever since bambi left. neither has ever moved on from that.

suddenly ten years has passed and their bodies are 26 and they're still two fearful teenagers. bambi still sees them as the broken, angry child they kept together for the entirety of their youth and to them bambi is bared teeth and trembling pair of arms, a guardian who never had any life of their own and whose sole purpose was to protect them and make sure they got to become who they really were.

but what if in those 10 years bambi mourned the baby cousin who got left behind, made a new life for themselves and without their little brother figure was forced to become their own person with their own problems catching up on them. what if jay remained in their old life, growing into the mould but not quite, for she had left them permanently scarred from knowing unconditional love but slowly forgetting what it felt like.

they both are aware of those ten long years, but don't realise what it really means: they're no longer just teenage siblings frozen in time. they are both angry and broken now. they're in love, too, and this new life has changed them.

the baby brother has grown up wearing a mask that doesn't fit them, instead of being the one they fought to be, they're becoming an act they can't end. there are people they find they learn they want to protect in turn, but never learned how; suddenly they have to bare their own teeth and fight, to salvage the remnants of who they were before it's lost.

the sister has now even more to care for. she has found someone who wants to protect her, and she learns to be a person of their own right, one who is loved and good. someone with a new name and a soft heart that then needs to be hardened again for the sake of survival and to save not only the love of their life but that little cousin they desperately want to exist; to then cling to each other like they once did, to have that be enough. but it is not, not any more because that time has passed. they will always be siblings, one day they will find peace with those lost years and the betrayal of growing up in secret.

but right now, they're not 16 and they've not been 16 for a long time.

forever grateful for finnish dub for giving their teenage characters actual young and otherwise very fitting voice actors for the main five (i think aelita is the only one to have an adult va).

ulrich and jeremie's voice actors go through irl voice breaks and their voices are deeper when they come back from "summer break" in s3 like isn't that beyond cool and fitting

i absolutely loathe english and french dub I'm sorry :D wdym you didn't have the budget to at least have different actors for your five main characters.

like ofc finnish one is not perfect but the casting is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

x.a.n.a sooo wanted a fighter champion. ulrich was gonna be its target i think since it had a cool ass design ready for him. but then another guy with an even bigger sword fell into its lap.

disclaimer: yumi would have been the obvious choice BUT for the sake of my theory of x.a.n.a being an intelligence who wants to train super soldiers that can tackle anything for its own purposes (hence the objectively silly, personal attacks of great variety and alternating intensity and close calls, it pushes hard to make them strong but ultimately wants them to win. it was a military program after all) imma let it slide. and thus if it was yumi, all would be over real quick. 😭

I have a headcanon that Ulrich has a real motorcycle as soon as he is old enough to have licence, because it's very practical thing if you live in a big city and its vibe is really matching with him.

So he is used to pick up Yumi or Odd from school, gym or other places. With Yumi, they look like the members of local bike club, a badass powercouple with pitch black helmets, big boots and leather jackets (safety first!); so serious so stunning, you don't wanna mess with them. Pink Sakura flowers on Yumi's helmet and dark brown or green pieces that Ulrich wears are the only colouring that they have. Sometimes they carry Épée or Sabre with, fencing is a fun and different training way for them.

With Odd, it looks like he has the Rainbow as a passenger. Odd has a couple of neon coloured jackets; mostly purple, pink and yellow. His helmet has the drawing of Kiwi that he painted by himself, occasionally carries weird art class materials with him and dances when they stop for red lights to entertain people in traffic jam.

The gang also have a secondhand Vespa that used to belong one of Odd's sisters; Aelita, Yumi and Odd ride it, because sometimes Ulrich's bike is too much for them. Jeremy still prefers electrically powered scooter.

Ulrich also has extra jackets, in case Yumi forgets to bring hers. The one from Kadic football team has 'Stern' written on its back but on the other one's back, it says 'Ishiyama', because he isn't the fan of his own surname and when he joined the uni's team, he simply lied to them and had Yumi's surname written.
