She’d found the statue almost a month ago, now. The forest was ancient, the shrine inside it almost as old... but somehow, the lovely statue inside was untouched by the ages. Sure, vines had grown across it, but the stone was still smooth and perfect. She’d found herself drawn here every day since she’d first found it, and today... today, something was different. She could almost swear the strange statue’s antlers looked less like stone and more like... an antler?
“what in the world..?” One tiny hand reached out, touching it hesitantly.

It wasn't really a secret - or even surprising - that Dove didn't really trust Boss. She believed well enough that he didn't want to hurt her, but she also believed that he would ultimately do so. This had resulted in high tensions once Red had invited her to move in with them; Dove consistently kept herself out of easy reach unless Red was also present.
But Red had gotten hurt. Badly. Boss was also hurt, in far less dire straits, but he was also running low on magic. They didn't have time for one of her spell circles - Boss needed to access her soul's strength and now.
It took effort to trust Boss. To trust that he wouldn't hurt her the moment his brother was healed. Still, she reached over, placing her left hand over his right. "move over a bit--" creating a bond despite her discomfort was hard, but she wouldn't let Red die because she flinched.
Her magic - most of it inaccessible to her, as though no one had ever shown her how to use it properly - would be more than enough to heal Red, and then some. At the same time as her magic could be felt, though, so could the overwhelming fear she was fighting off... As well as how poor her health really was.

Dove had promised Ashes a demonstration of human magic. Her long-since-memorized ‘ORA!’ spell - a simple barrier - was hardly a good demonstration though. Human magic was full of ritual, it required outside sources of power... The human and the fire elemental had been out in the woods for over an hour already. She finally stood up though, grinning in satisfaction at the massive spell circle she’d been carefully tracing into snow she’d packed down. At the center of the circle was a dead plant in a pot.
“arright, ya ready? step way back then, back into th’regular snow. trust me.” Dove popped two candies into her mouth, CRONCHing through them rapidly. The magic flooded her system, making her eyes and even her hair glow with a slightly greenish light. She crouched down, placing the fingers of each hand gently into the outer circle, on the line drawn in the snow. A soft, clear chant left her.
It took another ten minutes of reciting the invocation before green sparkles filled the air, swirling along the spell circle before rising up, well above the trees... and slamming back down at a frightening speed in a nearly blinding laser of green. When the stars finally cleared from their eyes, the plant was alive, whole, and so vigorous it overflowed the pot.
Dove gave a soft cheer before sitting down, hard. That was maybe a touch of overkill.
