01. how  many  languages  does  your  character  speak  ?

English and Italian. Italian she learned as a hobby thing on her own and she had dreams of visiting Italy one day and seeing the Vatican and all that. She never did manage it but she now has the useful tool of speaking another language.

02. how  does  your  character  express  anger  ?

Ember's a very suffer in silence type but lets you know she's not happy. She gives looks, stone faced typically, and just generally looks pretty peeved off. In her own space she lashes out via throwing things or smashing things. She screams and yanks her hair. She has a hard time controlling her anger but she had a mom that never taught her those things and suffered with it too.

03. what  is  your  character's  home  like  ?  (  do  they  like  it  ?  where  would  they  live  if  they  could  ?  )

Ember has a tiny little studio apartment that she adores. There's a ton of plants and greenery in every corner and crevis. A lot of browns, deep oranges, mustard yellows. She loves antiques and vintage items. She has a beat up old corduroy orange couch she thinks is the best even when the springs stab you in the back. She typically sleeps on that. Her kitchen counter is a clutter of camera lenses, camera's, tape recorders, various headphones and a mess of whatever is tossed there at the end of each day. The entry hallway though small has shoes tossed about, one single golden Victorian style mirror on the wall to do a double check on her way out. She loves her mini sanctuary.

04. how  does  your  character  handle  conflict  ?

After endless battles growing up with her mother Ember is not a fan of conflict. She's no runner. She will straight up approach you and present the problem and say that something has to be hashed out. She hates being at odds with people and she doesn't like any lingering tension or awkwardness. She's big on talking and hugging it out and moving on. No grudges held.

05. how  does  your  character  display  affection  ?

It truly depends on the person because Ember wasn't nurtured in that way growing up as a child. She took care of herself. Any love and affection she got was from a passing teacher or a kind stranger. For her now she finds she's a big giver and a talker. She offers a listening ear and tends to buy treats and gifts for the people she loves. She's always a hugger if you'll let her but that one is new and still feels foreign to her.

01. when  did  you  character  first  notice  their  powers  /  differences  ?

Ember was always aware. Her mother had no powers to speak of but she made sure to rant and rave about Ember's grandmother being 'of the devil'. She eventually figured out it meant being a oracle and the girl thought at least she had that going for her. Ember's always embraced it but her grandmother passed when she was only three so she had to learn the skills on her own. She dove into books and media even if it sometimes led her astray. She leaned on friends too that understood and eventually got her footing. She hit a stride with it in the beginning years of high school and now today feels more confident in her abilities.

02. how  does  your  character  feel  about  their  abilities  /  species  ?

Ember loves it. It's a part of her heritage she cherishes. She was never loved or wanted growing up and knowing her grandmother passed on that ability and skipped a generation felt like a warm hug to the girl. Ember's always seen it as the one thing that makes her special in an otherwise dark world. It was something her mother always scolded her for and hated her for and yet it was the one thing Ember clung to for safety and hope.

03. what stereotypical traits of their species does your character show ? are there any ways in which they subvert them ?

Ember tends to use the ability and visions to aid friends so that I suppose. If she sees something that she thinks is harmful she will speak up to someone she cares about. On the flip if it's an enemy then best of luck to them but she shuts her mouth about it. The girl is also very grounded with the earth and loves nature and all things harmony despite her temper and pension for all things dark and mysterious.

04. what's  your  muse's  favorite  ability  /  the  one  they  use  the  most ?  why ?

Surely her visions when she gets them. Mostly to aid friends again or to watch a bully take a fall. She feels comforted knowing that she can see some of what is to come and can prepare in advance if she can.

05. what  is  your  character's  reason  for  being  guided  to  portum ?

Ember had no home to speak of. She had a hateful mom and no other family. She had abilities that gave her hope. She went for the one safe place she could think of once she had the means to flee. Portum is her home and her safe place. She has never felt more loved and cherished anywhere.

Jane’s Mayfair townhouse:

1st: bedroom.

2nd and 3rd: the blue rooms, parlor and study.

4th and 5th: Interior and exterior

6th and 7th: Library and stairwell.

8th: Garden.

Jane’s townhouse is still largely in the style her uncle left it like the library, but she’s been redoing sections of it, largely in blue, her favourite colour. She aims for soft smooth lines and a lack of clutter, preferring room to move around. Her focus has been mostly on the garden, wanting to have it ready for next year.

What you see is what you get?  Not always in Rhea/Demi’s case.  She’s not always the tough badass that brings nightmares to her opponents. Demi away from the ring is a soft, funny Aussie that likes to eat, workout and drink with her mates. She misses home but she loves America and all the craziness that comes with it. 

I’m comfortable writing anything, fluff, angst, smut. I’m open to plots of any kind, fwbs, exes, crushes, you name it and I’ll be open to it.

Task One - A place I belong; surrounded by death.

‘I had to laugh when I heard the president’s message on screen; so this had been their plan all along? They knew what I had been up to the last few months, or at least they knew what my brother had done with the rebellion. The trainers and mentors wanted me out of the way, this was a quick way to dispose of someone whom they truly hated… The monster known as Corban Lopez.’ 

Smart move, if their bets on his death turned out to be right.

Corban’s dark eyes turned from the screen back to the stage to stare down the group of people who invited him to volunteer, most seemed indifferent but others seemed horrified. The message was aired publicly for all to hear, and given that Corban had been known to beat people for less than looking at him wrong, crossing him was a concern for many. If he decided not to volunteer then surely someone else would, then they would surely be hunted down by the angry young rebel.

“Now then! The time has come for us to select our tributes for the 127th Hunger Games! Unless of course we have any volunteers?” The escort asked jokingly, district one rarely ever had non-volunteer tributes; the careers almost always dominated the games and district one was an iconic career district since the beginning. It wasn’t going to change… At least not this year.

Corban however surprised a few of them by raising his hand up proudly, still volunteering even given the fact that everyone knew why he had been selected as a prime candidate to participate in the 127th Hunger Games. “I volunteer!” Bunch of fuckers. Corban made a mental list of people he would have to come back and deal with when he won the games, in his mind it wasn’t even a question of if he was… It was simply a matter of pageantry before he won. 

He would rip through every last competitor to prove himself, and make his mark in history as one of the most capable warriors in district one if not all of Panem. No one would stand in his path again, he would be feared and loved by many. Just as he had deserved from the beginning if his parents weren’t complete assholes… As shocked as everyone else was, Corban wasn’t surprised by the silence in the courtyard. Not a single sob or scream. Nothing, he was shocked if his parents even bothered showing up for the reaping ceremony. Of course they were they had to make a social appearance, they of course watched their youngest son volunteer... Not that they cared much, they wouldn’t unless it was Bentley in the same position.

Corban marched up to the stage proudly, head held high as he climbed up the stairs to the escort. He stood there, his eyes dark and stormy as ever as he grinned maliciously… As he wondered what the other tributes looked like, and how many volunteers they would have given the new circumstances of the reaping.

“How brave! What’s your name?” 

“Corban Lopez…” This was going to be fun.
