My take on the Taskmaster s22 lineup is that I'm disappointed but absolutely not surprised. I've been kind of waiting for an inevitable hiccup like this where the priorities of the producers crashes into the expectations of fans. Both Richard and Matt are HUGE pulls in the eyes of the general public and that's an automatic approved by the producers.
I would have been excited about Richard in like 2018 but unfortunately he's become redundant to me as of late on panel shows due to his I Don't Care-schtick and also defending the biggest terf to ever terf. I still enjoy some of his old interviews, some BFQOTY and Garth Marenghi, otherwise it's mostly meh.
I don't have anything nice to say about Matt, he's an unfunny twat who is BFFs with an abuser and is rumored to be one himself. Also the blackface, but some beloved former TM contestants has gotten away with that so I guess it's not a big issue among fans.
At the end of the day it's another reminder to not idolise the people who make a show you like. It's just business and the producers are not your friends who think like you, even Alex.
I've watched many panel shows with people I hate for the sake of one comedian I love, so I'll still watch it for Isy and Chloe, possibly Nina. If it's still bad I'll take that as my sign to catch up on Taskmaster New Zealand, Australia and Sweden, no big deal.
