The Daily Tea #3
custom blend: stinging nettle leaf, lemon peel, rose hips
I bought a multivitamin but it's not coming until tomorrow so I planned on having my most nutritious herb today and in my apothecary, that is stinging nettle. Now, it's tough for me to include it in my diet cuz it's so grassy and boring so I looked to my tea pinterest for help and found this.
I assumed the colors corresponded with one another, hence nettle + rosehips + lemon peel. Thankfully, I had all these ingredients on hand. So I steeped it and let it brew overnight in a coffee French press. That's what I use when I want to really get the nutrients outta my herbs.
If you want to see the Tiktok of how I made it: here it is.
Aaand I've come across a problem... to combat the grassy taste, I added honey. However, since I steeped it overnight in a coffee press, it's cold now. I've already added it to my favorite mug that can't be microwaved. What's the problem with this? It's just iced tea essentially. Well, the honey isn't dissolving in the cold tea. So it's not helping to fix the flavor... Which is fine. It's tolerable. But now I'm wondering if I should have added it (or sugar) when I was brewing it last night instead of now...
Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. It's not a bad blend. The rose hips and lemon peel definitely take the weight off the nettle.
After some decent time spent stirring, the honey is definitely coming through as well.
It doesn't smell like much (maybe because it's cold). But I'm able to drink a whole mug stinging nettle thanks to the 3 helpers (honey, lemon peel, and rose hips) and that's what's important.
Would I recommend this blend? Depends on what you're looking for: if you want a super easy to make tea that's non-caffeinated and high in vitamins? Than yes I recommend it. Do you want an enjoyable tea experience? Go elsewhere.
Tomorrow we'll feature a tea that's an enjoyable experience, I promise. We'll go for something fruity.
As always, I hope you stick around my fellow-tea lovers!
