As part of the 11 days’ immersion program coined as TCTD Yatra at Tata Centre for Technology and Design (TCTD), a team of 26 students, staff and faculty members took off from their comfort zones in IIT Bombay to reach out to explore social innovations across the country. The Yatra held together a perfect platform of innovators, entrepreneurs and experts on field to interact with and take inspiration from. These people had made a difference to the lives of the people and community at large. In line with focus areas of research of TCTD, the Yatra gave a comprehensive exposure to the amazing ground level work being done in their respective organizations across the domains of Healthcare - Aravind Eye Care, Water (Dhan Foundation), Food & Agriculture (Akshaypatra Foundation), Education (Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya), Energy (SELCO) and Waste Management (Hindustan Waste Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd). Overall, the TCTD Yatra served as a perfect catalyst to spark the interests of the young minds in using technology and design to provide solutions to the problems faced by the base of the pyramid population.
