Thomas “Tom” Tate has led operations at Tate Builders, Inc., as the owner and president since 1983. In that capacity, Thomas E. Over the last 32 years Tate Builders has designed and built a variety of custom homes on Martha’s Vineyard, including a six-bedroom house on Quitsa Pond in Chilmark. Arguably the most ambitious and intricate project the company has ever undertaken, the construction team utilized multivariable calculus in constructing a unique, double-recurved roof setup for the home. The two-year project also featured a complex climate-control system developed to maintain the homeowner’s valuable art collection.
