Coldest weekend in Montreal in a long while. It's been almost -40 every night. This is the weekend I, Paul went to visit Jason in Montreal. Goddam.. It is frikken cold. Despite the frost bitin weather, we ventured out to the streets of Montreal.
The urban streetwear scene is dope here, surprisingly more hype than good ol' Toronto. We RSVPd to VIP sale at Off The Hook, a great boutique on St. Catherine and Peel for both hypebeasts, so-called hipsters, and everything in between. We made next level purchases, sales on sales, deals on deals. Rangin from Stussy to Canada Goose.
After a great haul, we treated ourselves to some all you can eat sushi on Crescent and made our way to the grand finale. The Mecca of the denim world, where the denim bleeds in Canada, the great source of our beloved Naked and Famous Denim: Tate + Yoko on St. Laurent.
Tate + Yoko is a personally owned denim store founded by the owner and creator of Naked and Famous denim, Brandon Svarc. There we met Alex, the online/on site store manager, one of 9 employees to ever work at Naked and Famous Denim. He was a great dude, very informed about denim. He was also very patient and understanding of our denim craze. There, Jason bought his first ever HEAVYWEIGHT denim. 24oz of pure Japanese goodness created in Canada. YES. 24 FRIKKEN OUNCES. It hurts to bend your legs, and it hurts to do/undo the buttons. Jason will get it personally hemmed and tapered AND SIGNED by Brandon Svarc. He will be signing up for a HEAVYWEIGHT DENIM CONTEST so stay tuned.
Montreal is definitely one of the coolest cities in Canada and maybe the world. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. The denim scene, the streetwear, and the vintage yet modern lifestyle is a great thing to experience.
