"Leading scholar on the ancient peoples of the Balkans and Caucasus" is the subtitle she likes to use for herself on the back flap of her books. But, if her publisher allowed a longer one, she'd also mention the fact that she's a an accomplished linguist and polyglot, a professor, a lover of literature, a creature of habit.
This isn't her first time acting as a local liaison for a team of foreign scientists, but it is the first time she's doing it whilst in the middle of a divorce. For her, that's not much of a problem. She's spent her whole life honing perfect frosty decorum, keeping the raw, passionate, intimate conversationalist side of herself neatly hidden in her back pocket.
