Luka didn't always smoke this much.
Everything was different when he was younger - uninhibited, intrepid, desperately in love. Now, when he looks in the mirror he's faced with an unmoored, self-pitying middle aged man he no longer recognizes. Getting served unexpected divorce papers in the middle of the most professionally fruitful time of your life would do this to anyone. At least, that's what he tells himself.
As an anthropologist and writer born in Bucharest but raised all over Europe, Luka's most in his element out on the road, meeting new people and experiencing new places. He likes to think of his adaptable, affectionate, empathetic nature as a boon. Really though, when it matters most, it's an achilles heel.
