Three Simple Questions about your OC
Thank you @silviapedrina for tagging me! I'm excited to share a bit about my homebrew campaign OC Taurosso~
I'm celebrating playing with my firbolg shepherd guy for six years this year! 🥳💜
First, what he and his wife look like as of my 2023 ref (that does need an update because wow that's a long time ago ❤):
His wife Vanya is with him because they hardly do anything apart, especially with their Sending earrings that takes her right along on his adventures!
1. Why is your character’s eye colour the way it is? Is it random, or not?
This Taurosso was drawn by @eerivee for Art Fight in 2024!
Taurosso's eye color is a golden hue I like to describe as 'bright amber' or 'honey brown'. It doesn't have a lore reason for being that way, but I personally really like to give brown eyes to my OCs to give the color some love!
2. Who gave your character their name?
This Taurosso and Vanya were drawn by @boociforme for Art Fight in 2024!
There's this little blurb in the original book description of firbolgs that they don't really take names in their secluded, fey-esque lifestyle- if they need to call someone something, they call for them by profession or an associated characteristic (to my memory, at least).
When Vanya met Taurosso, he didn't actually have a name, and so she would lovingly give him one as their relationship blossomed and she felt she had a good read on his nature and his calling. Taurosso means "forest guardian" in Elvish.
He treasures his name more than words can describe, especially when it's said warmly by her.
3. Does your character have tattoos? What do they mean?
This Taurosso was drawn by @coveofmadness for Art Fight in 2025!
What is likely a surprising answer to this one is a resounding yes, Taurosso does have tattoos- and they match Vanya's! When they were both much younger, drunker, and on a beach trip to an island, they chose to get a matching bovine design on each of their thighs.
Don't tell anyone, but they still find so much humor in the whole thing that they've based the symbol of their homestead on it.
I'll let the wonderful artists that I've tagged to credit their work serve as my no-pressure tags to jump in and share too- thank you and thank you Silvia so much for doing such a careful and beautiful job drawing my OC over the years!
Because of how special he is to me as a character, I find it hard to draw Taurosso to my own standards more often than not, making my own art of him quite scarce. And that makes it mean so much more to see him and Vanya so lovingly portrayed by others when I struggle to give him that love myself. ❤
