Farewell
This farewell marks the end of a chapter and the start of a new one. It has been such an amazing journey in what felt like a short amount of time , yet I feel like I’ve known all of you for forever. Each and every one of you are jewels and watching you all shine has moved me in inexplicable ways. Thank you for allowing me to open myself up to you all and exploring and discovering new things about myself. Thank you for showing yourselves to me. In a way, we all fit together collectively, like a puzzle. Quirks and all, a group of strangers shifted into friends that I hope to keep lifelong. All of you are beyond amazing and it has been such an amazing 14 weeks with you all. Beyond music, I have learned invaluable lessons through everyone’s character and presence. I’m excited for the next class to create memories of their own and to continue the cycle. This is where I pass the torch on, but the flame still remains.

Part 1
Verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus
Part 2
Song Information/Credits: written and performed by Xavier Omar, produced by J-Louis, album “The Everlasting Wave”
Arrangement Notes: electric piano, “plucked” bass, elec. piano sine, spoken harmony, different types of hihats and snares used, several breakdowns and drops
Lyrical Notes: “you’re so beautiful girl a blind man can love you” of the chorus uses repetition because it is said twice in a row and also points out the main idea of the song. They are the last lines before the following verse so they establish the main idea as well as introduce the next idea.
Opinion of Song & Message: I thought this was a beautiful song because it talks about love and beauty being deeper than what’s on the surface. It challenges the common themes of mainstream songs whilst retaining that mainstream sound, which I like.
Key Production Moves: the first key move is in the introduction. The song starts off with just keys, then brings in the kick and bass when the verse starts. The second key move is in the pre-choruses, which has a breakdown that leads to the chorus. The chorus has the last key move, as all the instruments come in but then breaks down leading up to the verse, where the kick and bass come back in.
Key Songwriting Success:
1. “I can love you with my eyes closed” This is the first line in the song which immediately introduces the concept of the song. This line references the idea of love not being about what you see, and it also implies that it’s easy because the phrase “with my eyes closed” is usually associated with an easy to do action.
2. “Body like a queen but it ain’t about ya body it’s about ya being” This line address the concept again but more directly. I like how he created the distinction between the body and the being.
3. “I see you from the inside” This line made me think of literal insides and anatomy lol. But I interpreted this line to mean looking from the inside out, instead of the outside in.
Hey everyone, I’m Tayahna (tay-AH-nah) I’m from Brooklyn and I’m a singer-songwriter, rapper, and music producer. I also DJ and model at request. I’m really excited about understanding the mixing/mastering process as well as the business side and the steps necessary for a successful career in the music industry. The YouTube link is my most recent project called “All I Want is You” off my upcoming EP titled “Figuring it Out”. I wrote and produced the song as well as my entire EP which is also why I named it that because it was a trial-and-error process trying to figure out my sound (still trying!) and brand. Overall, I like the direction my music is going, it feels authentic to who I am.
