Farewell

Over the past 14 weeks I made so many friendships that I know will last a lifetime. It was here at this program that I knew my future would be in the music industry. Before this program it was just an idea, a dream in which I thought was not possible. But every week that Nicole and Marat taught us more and more about the music industry, and Marat brought in inspiring guests, was when I realized that I could and would be in this industry. So thank you so much to the both of you, for having an immense amount of passion for music and being there for us every week!

To the TA’s you are all some of the most amazing people I’ve met! Thank you for helping us and guiding us every step of the way. I hope to be like you guys someday, inspiring the next generation to follow their dreams💜

Lastly to all my moguls, you have inspired me with your talent and passion for music. I will continue to support all of you in your endeavors, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of you💜💜

Writing Homework

Camila Cabello is one of the most courageous and influential artists in pop music today. 

Camila started her career back in 2012 in the group Fifth Harmony. It wasn't until December 2017 that she took the courage to leave the group in order to have the freedom to be able to fully express herself as an individual. By leaving the group, Cabello has continued to inspire fans all over the world and has been very outspoken about dreamers and their rights in the United States. 

Lyor Cohen, Youtube's Head of Music expresses his beliefs that Camila's family comes from a crest of courage. That was the courage that was instilled in Camila to liberate herself from the group when she ¨did not feel her most authentic and creative self¨. Due to the immense amount of courage that Camila has had, she is currently dominating Billboard's pop charts with her top single ¨Havana¨. 

Time magazine has named Camila one of the most influential teens, due to her outspoken attitude about dreamers and immigration in the United States. At the 2018 Grammys, Cabello delivered a very touching and powerful speech about all the children of undocumented immigrants who are fighting to stay in the United States because she also shares a very similar story.

Camila Cabello has used her platform to show the world that despite where you come from, you can achieve anything you put your heart and soul into. She chooses to represent Latinos and immigrants every day and very publicly, which is very inspiring. Cabello is just starting her journey, and with her courage, she will continue to inspire the next generation day by day.

Hi everyone! My name is Valeria but you can call me Valerie or Val. I am originally from Colombia, but I live in New Jersey. I love to try new things constantly which has allowed me to play the violin, cello, (currently learning guitar), do choir, dance, and acting. I am really excited to learn all about the music industry! At the moment, my main focus is the business and journalism aspects. Still, I am super excited to learn how to songwrite, and produce tracks. I've been wanting to songwrite for a while now, but never knew how to start so that is definitely a workshop that I am most looking forward to! 

The song I would like to share with all of you is called “Inside Out” from Camila Cabello’s first solo album “Camila”. I absolutely love the track in the song. I love how it reflects her Latin roots while staying mainstream. It is very fun and upbeat, which is very true to who Camila is. In general, my music taste is all over the place. I love reggae, pop, EDM, salsa, and vallenato to name a few. 

I am super excited to meet all of you, and create long-lasting memories!!

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos

At the end of our junior year, in May of 2014, the school organized a service day in two different organizations. I had the opportunity to spend the day in an NGO called “Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos” located in Parramos. This place is a huge house called “Casa San Andrés” that holds more than 300 children from babies to young college students. The organization provides shelter for abandoned children, as well as a good education to families with low resources.

    When we visited the campus, we were all amazed at the beauty of the place. I believe that none of us imagined such a huge school that had everything. Some of us felt jealous because we wished we had a campus that big and full of amazing things. Our guide showed us the whole place. It had children from nursery to high school. All the kids were nice and talked to us. We spent the day working in different areas such as the woodshop, the kitchen, the garden and the huge vegetable garden, where the NGO produced some of its food.

At the end of the morning, we were all exhausted and hungry. We then went to the dining hall and had a tasty lunch. We really liked that we got to serve ourselves as much food as we wanted, the only rule was to not leave anything on your plate. We also used this time to socialize with the students, and the staff that volunteers there. Then, we had a little time to relax before going to meet the little kids and the kids with special needs. We played soccer and had a great time with them. At the end, we left NPH exhausted, but satisfied with the work we did there.
