IM SO PROUDBTAYLOR CHANGED MUSIC INDUSTRY
Dear Taylor, From Hailey
dear taylor,
three months is a long time to go unpaid… for a person who has a practical job. you, however, do not have a practical job and have a $200 million net worth at only twenty-five years old.
i think it is is great that you want to support smaller and less-famous artists by doing this, but it is uncalled for. these artists can do this by themselves by not letting apple use their music.
i believe if you were worried about money, you shouldn’t have given it to fans (i.e. the time you have a fan $90 for chipotle, and the time you gave $1,989 to a fan to help pay off student loans). for you, it’s probably not much, which makes me believe three months without pay is still not that much.
in the big picture, you’ll still probably have more money than the average american family has. you’ll still be one of the youngest richest celebrities of our time.
another issue that comes along with this is not having your music on spotify. fans already pay your bills, the least you could do is have an option for your less-fortunate fans who cannot afford to buy all of your albums.
you say you care for the smaller artists not getting their share of money and that your music has value, but all of these thing make you out to be someone who only cares about her own issues. you only really care about things that affect yourself. you tweet one thing about the events in charleston, but you can write a whole essay about why apple is mistreating you.
you’ve been popular for about ten years now and i don’t see you becoming any less popular anytime soon. money shouldn’t be something to worry about. you get to do what you love. if you’re really passionate about something, money should not even be in the picture.
from, hailey
