This haunted doll belongs to #TaylorSwitch
Maybe I do like this colour after all - grabbed in a £1 sale at Primark. Their metallic matt liquid lipsticks don't appear in outlandish colours that often but when they do, they're worth it. To me they feel comparable to Nyx and #TaylorSwitch is a performer on a #budget! The Guardian has just published this https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2018/apr/16/arts-industry-report-asks-where-are-all-the-working-class-people?CMP=share_btn_fb which is just... this is on purpose. Working class people getting ideas above their station terrified our government so much they tried to take Art History out of the national curriculum. In another Guardian article (I know, I know) Jeremy Deller said, "Art history is the study of power, politics, identity and humanity" - and Cornelia Parker slams home an important point, "As a working-class girl, receiving free school dinners, I studied art history,” said Parker. “It has hugely enriched my life and career, and hopefully those of countless students I passed the knowledge on to, during the 15 years I spent teaching" https://www.theguardian.com/education/2016/dec/01/art-history-a-level-saved-from-being-axed-after-high-profile-campaign Regardless of being an option, funding cuts for schools and colleges mean that vocational and "access" courses are popular because the minimum wage doesn't cover even a lot of social housing rents for families where a parent works full time. It isn't a a case of people not trying hard enough - the powers that be want us to remain grateful for them for basic survival needs - when food banks are used by so many people in work, it's not the effort or skill level that's the problem, it's the system. #workingclassartist #workingclassart
