Ryland Grace / Project Hail Mary (inspired) costume complete!
My yellow jumpsuit /flightsuit / coveralls are made by me, and based on Simplicity pattern H0202, with a lot of additions and alterations. The NASA 'meatball' and US flag patches on the shoulders are store-bought (ebay), and the other patches are all Tulip brand fabric paints on cloth, hand-applied using adhesive vinyl stencils I designed and cut with my desktop cutting machine / hobbyist plotter-cutter / whatever the generic term for those things is.
The spoof t-shirt is a generic 'ringer' tee blank purchased online, with the text and image applied by me; the same as the patches mentioned above.
The shorts are generic yellow swim trunks, purchased online, with another one of my home-made fabric patches.
Guess where I went :))

Okay, I did say I had a sappy post incoming about Harvey Guillén...
My bestie @magoborincano decided to go to TBCC last minute, and I had to convince him to join me in my photo op with Harvey Guillén…but I’m incredibly glad he did. Harvey is so important to me because @magoborincano is important to me, and I shared that with him. Queer Hispanic representation for guys who aren’t a size Smedium, where they get to have romances or be heroic badasses or have compelling nuances—characters who aren’t just a hollow stereotype—are so damn important. Harvey said he never saw himself in media growing up, so he aspired to be that for others. I told him that he absolutely IS. His eyes got a little glassy :’))) HE DESERVES THE WORLD!! 😭
He was just an absolute sweetheart. The pose, and filling in the hearts, were his ideas! He chatted with us for a good while at his table after the photo op was over. I also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell him he absolutely SERVED at the Met Gala in that pink Siriano suit, and he proudly talked about how it was a project that was the total antithesis of the theme, because he knew -he- was everything the designer they were honoring despised, so it was forged of spite 🤣 I just adore him 💜 What a beautiful, talented, and wonderful human.
