About the Reading Direction of Across the Sea: A Thunderbolt Fantasy 10th Anniversary Fanzine

The design of our zine takes into consideration the different typesetting and reading direction conventions for the different languages featured: English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese (TC), and Simplified Chinese (SC).

The cover was designed so that both outward facing sides can work as a “front” cover when viewed from either side (see our earlier cover reveal for more information).

English and Simplified Chinese works with text begin on one side (left-to-right); Traditional Chinese and Japanese works with text begin on the other side (right-to-left). Standalone illustrations and photos will be in a section in the middle.
