Dear friends and followers: We are sad to report that our wonderful hen, Juniper, passed away on Sunday afternoon after a short illness. Juniper was beloved by many - endeared to her caretakers, the community, and beyond. She was the joy of small children, for whom many she was the first chicken they encountered. She loved being held, sunbathing in the dirt, singing her egg song, and digging for worms in the dirt after a good rain. Juniper appeared in the field overnight about five and a half years ago. She was a solitary chicken who preferred the company of humans and goats to other birds. She loved her herd, and slept comfortably perched above them at night on their feeder. She enjoyed the comfort of a good lap, a snuggle in a sweatshirt, and being hand-fed treats. Juniper was a welcome addition to the herd, even though she was a surprise. She lived a very full and loved life, with treats and adventures abounding. Juniper was with two of our caretakers when she passed, having been seen by the incredible staff at Dove Lewis and been pampered during her short stay at home. We will all miss her very much. Please feel free to leave your favorite memories of her so that we can share what a wonderful experience it was to know such a great little chicken! - The Belmont Goats & Staff #belmontgoats #tbgjuniper https://www.instagram.com/p/B2xAreMhYWz/?igshid=1unjq88f5zpzb
