Minneapolis' preeminent women's sports bar A Bar of Their Own is holding an auction to help raise funds for their nonprofit that provides financial assistance to help people get into and continue in women's sports.

The T.C. Gemini's Baily Johnson speaks out against USA Rugby's recent announcement of plans to align with Trump's transphobic "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports" executive order from 2025.

"To whom in may concern,

The recent alignment to directly impact our Trans rugby athletes within the community will forever impact your leagues if it remains the same.

Alignment to keep trans women and men outside of the designated men's and women's division by creating a separate division is the antithesis of what rugby is about.

Rugby has had participating trans athletes for decades, and not one individual in my time has ever heard, seen or experience anything that would put me in danger as a cis woman competing against someone who is trans.

This storyline that women are not safe competing against 'biological males' is inaccurate and dangerous. I know many trans men and women whom of which I've played with who pose no threat and are directly the joy to rugby in which we hope to emulate as athletes.

These recent alignments to the executive order are weak, and I am calling for the reversal of this decision. Do what is right. No one is at risk and this argument is a smoke screen and our governing bodies continue to focus on topics that are not a threat to our game, like ball size and who qualifies as a man or woman.

You also have had capped USA athletes who have transitioned. They have put their own bodies on the line to represent this nation and deserve better."
