The last thing Flicker remembered was entering the portal Doc Greene had opened with his newest machine. It was afternoon, and the test was supposed to be just a quick hop over and back. Flicker had worn a safety harness so he could be pulled back if something would go wrong. He'd only seen darkness, just like several times before when they'd tested it, and he'd turned back... but then the portal had closed. That had not happened before.
The small mech remembered the sudden feeling of falling through the void... and then he'd landed with a loud crash!
Now he was on some kind of alley next to a warehouse and it was nighttime. Fortunately he'd landed into a mixed pile of scrap and cardboard boxes and not straight onto the ground... but the sound might have alarmed someone. Flicker was still feeling disoriented after traveling through the portal, but he knew he needed to disguise himself: he wasn't sure if he was even on Griffin Rock anymore. He took a few wobbly steps away from the pile and was about to transform when he remembered the safety harness.
Trying to get the harness to open with one servo, Flicker used the other to contact others through his comm line, but he could only hear static.
"Great, just great, just... come on, come on," he whispered to himself in growing panic, now struggling with the harness with both servos while also glancing around fearfully. "Please don't let this be some kind of metal-eating monster world..."
