Day 2 of the #tcdapfeb is to show My Art. I decided to focus on my dolls for my art, I haven't drawn or painted since I start my dolls.. some times I miss it, then I hang out with these girls 😃. I've always been creative since I was a kid. I loved drawing and so my husband encouraged me to go back to school. I did and studied Graphic design and absolutely loved it! It inspired me to become even more creative. I painted more and loved it. Eventually I came across these stunning BJD on Pinterest, totally out of my price range I saw that someone had repainted Monster high dolls to look like BJDs. Trying to get back in a more regular fun time art groove and doing another monthly prompt for #tcdapfeb Day 1: You. So this is me....well kind of. Instead of taking a selfie I figured I'd do this #meettheartist thing I've been seeing pop up alot on my Instagram feed. While it is impossible to list all of my likes/dislikes I drew out a few specific ones. Heres my "then and now". On the top left is Rodrik, my first ever doll. His body is deteriorating but I still love him a lot. Then there is Gold on the right and the nameless raven in the bottom. They are the most recent dolls I've made and I am pretty proud of how far I've come. Todays theme is "mood" and I've had a bit of a rough time. This is always bad for my dollwork because my mood tends to influence my artwork. And even though this is not bad for sketching and illustrations, it ruins the story I want to tell with my dolls. The world of the Beasts of the Unknown is a bit like my childhood stories, it is a world where I can escape. When I build the characters I want them to be fierce, adventurous, cheeky, solemn or calm. They are supposed to lift their partners (I don't want to say owner here, they are more like familiars) spirit, make them more fierce or adventurous in return. Sadness is not a mood I want to transport through my dolls, there is already too much sadness in the world. Trying to make this selfie not moodie. I bought some flowers to use as background for some pictures but the colors of the flowers did not fit. But having flowers at home is always a good thing!
