Day 120: TCEM Emerging Voice
2012 TCEM graduate, Hayley Powell strives to build her career globally, but her roots planted here in TCEM hold firm. Her professional accomplishments include coordinator of IUPUI’s International Festival, coordinator for IUPUI representation at the Sister Cities Festival and Indy International Festival, and manager of Office of International Affairs video conferencing classroom. Accomplishments such as these and more motivate Hayley to continue blossoming in success and also explain why she is the proud recipient of TCEM’s first-ever Emerging Voice Award.
Through Hayley's oversight, many international and domestic video conference sessions are possible, including the Global Dialogues Course taught by TCEM, which allows for IUPUI and Slovenian students to meet and learn simultaneously. Additionally, Hayley received an Erasmus+ Grant and IUPUI Staff Development Grant to travel to the University of Primorska, Slovenia, where Hayley attended the International Education Week Conference.
Deborah Hirt Neary, IUPUI’s International Information & Communications manager, nominated Hayley. In the nomination, Deborah indicated, “Hayley is a proud, committed alum of the TCEM program at IUPUI. Following her trip to the University of Primorska, Slovenia, she has reached out to TCEM faculty to find ways to create more opportunities for global learning for IUPUI students.” She uses her background and strong skill set to help our department host international visitors at IUPUI and in the Indianapolis community.
