You all know Chris Evans is the love of my life. I really truly think the sun shines out of his ass. Having said that: Let's stop saying shit like "look! he's actually Captain America!" when Chris Evans posts passionate, socially conscious, intelligent political posts. Instead let's acknowledge that he - Chris Evans, a straight white dude who presumably grew up upper middle class and is now ridiculous privileged - is doing his best to be engaged in the political process and is speaking up. Regardless of how much I love Captain America, he's not real. Chris Evans is. He's real and he comes from the same upbringing as a lot of people we all know who do not think as progressively. He appears to be really trying to listen and respond and use his privileged voice for good. That's something we can point to as an example for other straight white privileged dudes. It's not an impossible, superheroic standard. We should treat it as our expectation rather than the exception.
