they were FIGHTING, maybe not fighting but arguing. her hands were clenched into FISTS at her side. autumn didn’t get angry OFTEN, but here she stood with her face flushed and eyebrows furrowed. she was SCARED, HURT even. she never thought anything negative would come from ollie’s mouth like that  ( even though she had been slightly rude to him before he said it. if anything, she wasn’t listening clearly enough. )  “NO, take it back. th-that...that’s rude you have to take it back!!”

This was somewhat a front for her disgruntlement. The paper might have been a festive shade, but it were more the words she couldn’t make out from her own lack of reading skill that upset her, than the size of the print.

“Can you read this, boo?” she continued to gripe, holding the tiny sheet out, “I done quit gotdamn tryin’, hell.”

It wasn't very often Anthony did this sort of thing but one doesn't really say no to such things, especially for events like this. He wasn't even a recruiting officer but he'd been asked by his friend to go with him to talk to the kids at his old high school. He'd much rather be enjoying his day of leave out somewhere instead of the uncomfortable environment in his fatigues but seeing such interest in the kids was worth it.

Of course there was only so long he could take doing this. So he did the one thing he was sure he wasn't supposed to be doing; he slipped out to look around the school. It'd been years since he'd been in one after all.

Though with all his wandering and looking, he probably should have been looking where he was going. He ran right into a young woman. "Ah, shit," he said, looking down at her and grabbing her arm to help keep her upright. "You alright, ma'am? I'm sorry. I didn't see ya there."
