However, the main tension of Orcovia surrounds the Astryan Magic Ban, and the fight back against it, because the main characters see it, rightly, as the king banning a group of people, rather than a practice. What I'm worried about now is that Behavioural Magic as a concept might draw away from that tension, as it's chosen, not born with. It means that some forms of magic are a choice, and some are genetics- which I worry will distract from that tension of the king outlawing a group of people.
I don't know if I should do away with the concept of Behavioural Magic altogether (which would fuck with my current plans for the series, especially re: Morganne), Call it something different- something not-magic but similar, or just keep it as it is and hope the narrative and tension isn't ruined by the loophole.
