I really wanted to like this program from I/Z but there are so many things wrong about it right now that it’s just a shame. On the plus side, this was way better than in Skate America but there are still so many issues...
I don’t get the music transitions at all. From the first piece to the second it somehow works but it’s quite downhill from there, they should have ended the program with the second piece - it just give a better feeling of the program than the other pieces. The choreography is really lacking in some of it, it feels like they are just skating from one side of the rink to the other in some parts, when in others they have quite nice movements.
But what I really don’t get is Elena, she oversells it by a mile and she focuses on the judges and the audience instead of her partner - they have no connection during this, and worst, I couldn’t find a single time where they had eye contact during the entire program. It’s almost like she is using him as a prop...
