Klaufi couldn't keep her hands still.  What was the etiquette for this? Back home she would have knocked and announced herself before entering, but this was the Chief's son. She couldn't just walk into his house like she owned the place! 

Why oh why was the Chief's house built right in the open? Klaufi was acutely aware of the eyes on the back of her skull, distrustful glares that had followed her ever since her perilous journey down from Gothi's hut. 

Just do this favour for her, and Klaufi can retreat back into the safety and (relative) comfort of Gothi's. 

Klaufi tentatively knocked on the door, and clutched at the strap of the satchel Gothi had provided for her. Klaufi hadn't made a good impression on the Chief of Berk, stuttering and averting her eyes mostly, so she plastered on a smile and ran through what she was going to say the moment the Chief's son answered. 

The script was immediately scorched and tarnished the moment the door opened, and she was faced with a sickly and skinny boy instead of the mountain she'd been expecting. 

"Oh!" Klaufi startled, feeling her heart jump to her throat. "Sorry for disturbing you!" 

"Uh," the boy said, squinting at her from glassy, fevered eyes. The glare of the afternoon sun made him hide mostly behind the safety of the door. "Do you need me for something? I don't think I'll be much help considering a strong breeze will tip me over at the moment."

"No, no! It's fine, I think I got the wrong house, haha," Klaufi laughed nervously, glancing behind her at the village square. Gothi had said it was the house on the top of the hill, right? "I was supposed to see the Chief's son to bring him his medicine." 

 The boy blinked, and then gave her a wry smile. "I'd probably think the same thing if I were you, but you've got the right house.  You're looking at him." 

Oh. Oh no. 

"Oh my gods," Klaufi whispered, feeling horror drench her spine. "I am so sorry. I mean, you don't look anything like your dad so I assumed- not that that's a bad thing! I was just expecting someone else- I mean-" 

Klaufi snapped her mouth shut. 

"Here's your medicine!" she forced out her mouth with enthusiasm, shoving the satchel towards the boy and feeling only marginally guilty when he almost dropped it. "Take it with water and lay down for the rest of the day!" 

Gothi raised her head when Klaufi stumbled into the hut, out of breath and red in the face from more than just exertion climbing all the stairs. 

"Thank you- For- your hospitality," she said, gasping for air after every breath. "But I need to leave Berk. I can't ever show my face here again."

Anyway yeah Klaufi very nearly leaves Berk just because she failed one social interaction and that's so based of her
